I'm not familiar with the Fort Myers area...

Had a look with Google maps...

Holy shite.. Cape Coral.... 1000's of homes all linked by canals...

Every home there must be inundated with water.

T's and P's to those impacted

Is this Liz? I also thought I saw someone else yesterday say their grandfather and others were staying around Sanibel and wouldn't leave.

The mets on air locally are saying the NHC is asking for as much footage/info as possible because this will be a much-studied storm.

Just heard he corrected that and said “possibly”. Idk how they’d know yet.

Low key reports of people trapped, needing boats for rescue operations.

I imagine there are going to be some terrifying stories of people and families gathered in attics begging for the water to go down.

Both sides of a divided highway on Sanibel totally washed away.

To give you guys an idea about Bonita Springs, this was a rescue of an old man sitting in his car at the Prime Steakhouse. You can goggle that spot and see where it is. This is the sort of stuff that leads to deaths.

A few people here know her, but I don't think they've been able to reach her, with the obvious loss of cell coverage. She said she was staying though in this thread yesterday.

I don't know her personally or have a number. I do know her logistics and think she is sitting in a dry house, on high ground, in the middle of a temporary pond.

Sadly there are a lot of older people with a lot of money that just don’t have the will or energy to evacuate so they take their chances and some pay with their lives some get lucky. They are hard headed and set in their way ad there’s nothing anyone can do or say to them to change their minds

It lived up to its billing and since it’s heading back into the Atlantic Ian is not done yet. Ian is over us now and we are still getting gusts in the 50 mph range and it’s raining sideways as I look outside. With the property values of the areas that Ian destroyed this maybe come the costliest hurricane ever.

Me a friend were discussing the same exact thing last night at dinner. That’s a very wealthy path Ian decided to take. Can’t blame him for trying.

Ian is like SuperTaint, gold digging bitch
