@NWS

A thread on the 5pm EDT update on Hurricane #Ian from @NHC_Atlantic:
Ian now has a maximum sustained wind speed of 120mph. The Hurricane Warning was extended Southward in Southwestern FL. Life-Threatening Storm Surge, Catastrophic Winds and Flooding Expected in the FL Peninsula.

quote:

Life-threatening storm surge is increasingly likely along the FL west coast where a storm surge warning is in effect, with the highest risk from Naples to the Sarasota. Residents in these areas should listen to local officials and follow any evacuation orders for your area.

quote:

Hurricane-force winds are expected in the hurricane warning area in southwest and west-central FL beginning Wednesday morning with tropical storm conditions expected overnight. Devastating wind damage is expected near the core of Ian.
Residents: rush preparations to completion.

quote:

Heavy rainfall will affect most of the FL Peninsula for the next several days, spreading to the rest of the Southeast US by Thu/Fri, likely causing flash, urban, and small stream flooding.

quote:

Considerable flooding is expected with widespread, prolonged moderate to major river flooding expected across central Florida.

JUST IN: @NWSWPC issued a rare HIGH RISK for excessive rain & flash flooding for #Florida Wed-Fri.

High Risk days account for 9/10 property damages & ~41% of flood fatalities. Treat this seriously. Flash flooding & inland flooding a big risk.

Going in south of Naples into completely uninhabited Everglades. Tampa dodged the bullet again. But TWC won’t say that b/c hurricane season has been a ratings washout for them.

I wonder if it will be done right before landfall. Huge shitfest if so. Expanded wind field and a strengthening system is a bad deal.

You still get the stall, or a big slowdown, but after landfall. That's no bueno for rainfall and is why we got the High Risk for flooding rains.

We also were donated a entire pallet of blue runner navy beans that we will serve with Conecuh sausage. It certainly wont be as good as what people in LA serve but it will be as good as some Alabama boys can make it.

Downvoted by an Alabama boy. (But I did live in BR for 20 years.)

BTW, thanks for all you and your group do.

Did they freeze the hand too? Human body is mostly water, so it would help keep it cold too.
