Knot isn't metric. It's just nautical miles per hour

You really need to look out for any Gatornados that spin off the hurricane. Keep your chainsaw close.

He’s in “lake in the woods”

Is that place relatively high?

It is on a hill, draining down to Scott lake, between an Auggie Busch vacation home, and the Heiress to the Publix fortune's compound. It will drain OK.

Not a terrible spot for a final stand against the Zombie Queen whilst in the midst of a major hurricane.

Why is a nautical mile longer than a land mile?

Is it because you have to account for the waves?

Rapid intensification will likely go uninhibited for much of today barring an EWRC. Shear doesn't really begin to pick up until tomorrow.

So if this thing comes in further south... it will be stronger... but less surge into Tampa Bay becasue of how far south it will be?

So some areas will get a stronger hurricane but those are less densely populated areas?

Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Save Tampa but other areas get F'd even harder?

For those who don’t know how to convert knots to mph, take the knot number and multiply it by 1.15

From NOAA:

The term knot dates from the 17th century, when sailors measured the speed of their ship using a device called a “common log.” The common log was a rope with knots at regular intervals, attached to a piece of wood shaped like a slice of pie.
