My uncle in Port Richie still refuses to leave despite being in evacuation zone A. I shite you not he's gonna hunker down on the 2nd floor of a barn on his property and have his boat nearby in case he needs to leave.

My aunt and uncle stayed in Houma for Ida. They were inland and not in a flood zone. Had a whole home generator. They made it out, but she said she'll never do it again. It was terrifying and for about 5 straight hours sounded like the roof was going to come off of their home. The walls were shaking. For 5 hours

My grandparents in the south Lafourche region stayed for Ida. They went through the eye of Betsy and said that was almost child’s play compared to Ida, and their house is significantly more structurally sound than the one in which they lived in 1965.

My grandpa gets visibly frustrated when it gets mentioned that Ida was labeled a category 4. In his thick Cajun accent he told me “mais neg, that was no 4”.

Depending on what Ian ends up doing, we could get a second landfall along the South Carolina coast. Some models are already supporting that idea:

Nahhh don't do it. You know you love it here. Especially with the road closures during the school year and fricked up traffic

Only closed 8 times since 71. I hope they don’t because I’m headed there now Wednesday night. If they cancel my flight I’m driving in. Wife is sold on going so my daughter can see the Halloween party.

I want an update from this guy.

Flight cancelled? Still going to Disney on Thursday/Friday?

I have a buddy that has a 3rd floor condo in Tierre Verde. Bailed at 3 this morning, to miss that traffic. I-4 i like standard, everyday after work traffic right now.

ABC Tampa finally put Shay Ryan up, but the county ERT cut in to chat.

He said he was going to drive because his wife had his balls in her purse, and she was insisting that they still take the trip.

Hopefully it wouldn’t be more than a remnant low or depression, if it even happens.

video of Port Fourchon when Ida came around

Yep. And that location is not really 'on the Gulf/beach'. It is off a canal in the marsh about a mile from the Gulf - although the Gulf obviously covered the marsh.

looks like the dry air that was supposed to wrap around the SE quadrant is going to happen over the keys over to miami and up the coast instead of right through the bay/bradenton to lakeland like it showed previously. this might be brutal for tampa.
