It was me brah. I live in Tampa now with a dock and a boat if you ever want to do some fishing
Wishing you well over the next few days. I’ll find you hear or get in touch after things get back to normal. I think I still have your email.
Glad to hear you’re doing well.

It'll weaken a little over Cuba, and then take some time to recover tomorrow morning or even through the afternoon. Should get another round of strengthening tomorrow night.

NHC has it moving at 345 degrees but it looks pretty much dude north on radar. Someone break out the stick.

Duke this isn’t going to be like that hurricane a few years that stayed over the Bahamas for like 3 days just dumping rain nonstop?

It can't fit indoors. The boat itself could, barely, but the trailer makes it impossible. It's a 20 ft flatsboat, so the profile is really low, plus it's a pretty heavy one as well. So, if the wind is bad enough to flip that thing, then we're probably fricked anyway.
My 25 foot center console is in a hurricane building in Sarasota inside. I pay a lot to keep it in that building and complain about it every month but right now I’m happy about having it there.

quote:What's the timeline on this thing? I haven't found a straight answer from anyone. My company has already lined up its disaster recovery team, but we don't know right now what kind of time frame we're looking at before getting shipped out. We are usually close behind the storm--Ida was still a TS in north LA when we deployed last year.
Winds up to 115
Figuring we'll be on the road heading that way sometime in the next 48 hours or so. Fun times.
ETA--I see NOAA is predicting the storm will be around Florida through Friday 8PM or so. Anyone know if that's accurate? Seems like a long time for that area to get hammered. Wow.

There is no “straight answer.” It’s constantly changing. Here is as good as an educated guess based on models as can be…..

Add some cinder block where the frame meets the tongue and take some of the load off the jack. Wind load will put a lot of pressure on it during the storm.

Its already pouring down rain in south florida and looks like it will be over the state until friday. The major storm surge and winds hit tomorrow night in the tampa area but it looks like its going to be a long 4 days for the state of Florida. I hope most people in low lying areas are ready.

shite, are they potato or melon farmers?
Neither. Just hillbillies! They're surrounded by deep creek which they claim is already high af.

#Ian continues to intensify and is now a major, Cat. 3, #hurricane with max sustained winds of 115 mph. Ian is the 2nd Atlantic major hurricane of the 2022 season (Fiona). It’s the 1st time since 1941 that Atlantic has had 2 major hurricane formations between September 20-27.

I just saw your edit. Can you please not troll this thread? How the frick you work for a disaster recovery organization that goes in after these storms, yet have no clue how to get information on these storms or an understanding that these storms are fluid….then question the validity of NOAA and the models?

quote:Received official notice we are being deployed at 5PM yesterday. No details were included--only that we would be deployed somewhere in the affected area as soon as field conditions permitted. Everything I had heard suggested the storm's timeline was uncertain, so I was trying to do the math on when I would be grabbing my 4-week suitcase and heading into the fray.

I was just sitting here at 2AM on a Tuesday running through my mental to-do list and trying to get insight from RDS, et al on when I would be likely to be heading out (i.e., when the winds would subside in central FL). I frankly trust the intel I get here more than just about anywhere else.

Sorry to interrupt/intrude.

My old house in Palma Ceia was built up pretty high and had water 3’ deep on the road for that 2015 flood.
You’re right about potential flooding there. Palma Celia is a nice area.
Here is current forecast for Palma Ceia
