If you had a Florida beach trip next weekend would you cancel? Not sure what to do and tomorrow is my 3 day window
If it is in Panama City or to the west, then no, I would not. As of now it looks like this system will be east of there. If that holds true, the biggest issues for the central Gulf Coast (Florida Panhandle, Alabama coast, Mississippi coast) will be rough surf and rip currents.

11pm EDT; 10pm CDT advisory:

quote:
Key Messages:
1. Ian is expected to produce heavy rainfall and instances of
flash flooding and possible mudslides in areas of higher terrain,
particularly over Jamaica and Cuba.
2. Hurricane conditions are possible in the Cayman Islands by
early Monday, with tropical storm conditions possible by late
Sunday. Tropical storm conditions are possible in Jamaica on
Sunday.
3. Early next week, Ian is forecast to move near or over western
Cuba as a strengthening hurricane and then approach the Florida
peninsula at or near major hurricane strength, with the potential
for significant impacts from storm surge, hurricane-force winds,
and heavy rainfall. While it is too soon to determine the
exact magnitude and location of these impacts, residents in Cuba,
the Florida Keys, and the Florida peninsula should ensure they have
their hurricane plan in place and closely monitor forecast updates
through the weekend.

Should I cancel my Disney trip next week? Lol
Honestly the best time to visit disney is after a hurricane. Park is a ghost town. I went the day after or second day after Irma, basically had the park to myself.

How are you on trees in your yard. If this comes through Bradenton, or Tampa, as a cat 4-5, the tree population will be decimated. Irma was bad, but a direct hit from a beast will make Irma look like a schoolgirl.
From the current NHC site:

That M stands for Monstro. The H stands for harlot, and we finna get fooked.

Hopefully it will go into the gulf and suck in a bunch of dry air and head inland as a TS or weak hurricane

Most of the peeps in my hood already have a lot of Halloween stuff up looks like I am going to hold off til next weekend. The plot that has it going straight into the Tampa/St.Pete area sucks. Alot of shite will be wrecked if it is at Cat 3.

West of Tampa and a good bit more west of St. Pete. This is a hit on Sarasota

I had a dozen in the yard around the house and lost all of them in 2018 when Michael came through. That really did a number on the timber folks
