I don’t know what any of this means but cost savings for our budget has me pumped. May not be much to some but that’s dirn near $1,000 a year saved.

It means fewer judge’s strong arming settlements to prevent car accidents from clogging up their sockets and less damages being paid for phantom medical damages that were only being charged on the invoice, but not actually being incurred.

Do your thing man.

Just telling you that the med pay is worthless. Any non family member in your vehicle will sue no matter what so why pay $250 per year for $100,000 in Ned may when $250 would buy you an additional $1,000,000 in umbrella

Buddy. Medpay is $34.00 cumulative in my policy over 6 months for $100,000 worth of insurance. I’m not haggling over $6 a month.

My umbrella is $94.00/mo. Nothing is being offset.

Well you aren’t haggling over $6 per month but I’ll let you go to sleep an idiot.

Recap, you should drop to 300/300/300 because your umbrella would attach at 300 and there is no reason To buy higher primary limits than your excess attachment point. The defense cost is in the primary.

You do not need med pay that high.

You need higher excess limits

Don’t take non legal advice from attorneys

ETA: it’s not $6 per month because you are so wildly out of balance on how to layer coverage you would probably add a million and pay the same as you are today

I have no idea what you’re talking about. The policy total is $34.00 itemized for Medpay. That’s over a 6 month policy term. Tell me what about that I am misinterpreting.

You say you don’t need Medpay but I’m told otherwise. For $34.00 every 6 months the risk seems minimal.

What you are missing is twofold

1)the reason for it (passengers who aren’t already covered by your medical)
2) what it helps with ( passengers not covered by your medical will not say “oh he’s only got $100,000”... no they sue you and that’s why $1,000,0000 in excess is better than $100,000 in attorney food.

But beyond that I’m trying to tell you that you can attach your umbrella at 300 and the savings from 500 to 300 would probably buy you an additional million in excess coverage.

Look into that and I’ll leave the med pay alone.

Even if I drop the insurance to 300/300 and took the Medpay away, it still wouldn’t equal the amount to add another 1M in umbrella. The delta is too large. You’re talking a savings of $25 a month and adding another $86 in cost of umbrella. It’s a -$60 move.

Unless you just quoted a new policy in 30 seconds you are just refusing help. Fine with me.

You need to ask around for a real personal lines agent because you are buying bad advice and believe it like Biden was legitimately elected

ETA: umbrella is cheaper every level higher or unless I’m misunderstanding you think $60 isn’t worth $1,000,000

I’m telling you I went through all this months ago. State Farm rates for umbrella were $94 for $1M and $178 $2M. I bought 1M because of this.

The attachment point was also minimal between 300/300 and 500/500. I went with the 500/500 because there www value in $200,000 more in insurance for $20 more a month vs paying another $60 for 2M. Nobody is suing me for over $1.5M. I don’t have near the assets. It’s not worth paying another $600-$700 a year for extra $1M

Man if you are getting charged that for excess, look around. Holy crap.

I have three vehicles in Metairie with two rental properties and pay $950 for a $3,000,000 umbrella with $1,000,000 in excess UM.

You must be really driving safe.

We got our property tax assessment from the County Appraisal District in Texas and my property value went DOWN $8k. Almost unheard of. That’s the same as insurance going down in LA

This is after doing a whole home remodel.
