I was told living next to a police officer dropped my property value.

In the not so long past it was desirable to have a police officer’s car next door. I am currently selling my house and have been told the marked police unit next door eliminates many potential buyers. What would you think?

I have a cop neighbor.

I don't think his car being parked in his driveway lowers my property value.

Its that he doesn't keep his goddamn yard up that is lowering my property value.

He hasn't trimmed his hedges all year. Lazy shite.

First, you should be selling your home FSBO, as realtors have long been rendered unnecessary by technology. Second, if a person hates a police officer enough to not want to buy my house, I'm sure my neighbors wouldn't want that person living there anyway. I would have zero issues buying a home with a police officer living next door.

I live off Perkins and Lee in Baton Rouge. I was told that living next to a cop is worse than having a swimming pool. It eliminates a large percentage of potential buyers. I feel really bad because he’s a great neighbor.

Common sense tells you no one wants to live next to a gang of thugs and drug dealers. So yeah I can see how the value of your property takes a hit.

It’s mostly young families and I get it they are scared the police car might bring trouble. Not my neighbors fault but potential buyers are telling the realtor that they don’t want the risk. It’s messed up.

If that's the case, may be more someone's opinion on the optics of anyone parking their work vehicle in a neighborhood driveway, whether it's a police car or Dale's Dead Bugs van.

Could be making excuses to get a lower price.

Good news. You get to defund your appraisal district.

You should try selling your house to someone other than drug dealers and hookers
