Sounds like your realtor sucks and is just coming up with excuses as to why she can’t sell your house and wants you to drop the price

If that's the case, may be more someone's opinion on the optics of anyone parking their work vehicle in a neighborhood driveway, whether it's a police car or Dale's Dead Bugs van.
This is usually the correct answer, but considering the growing anti-police sentiment among Dems/ leftest a police car next door could turn away a lot of potential buyers among that group.

marked police unit next door eliminates many potential buyers.
It eliminates potential buyers that your neighbors wouldnt want moving into your house anyway.

I live next to a police officer (sergeant) and he’s a damn good guy.

It exponentially increases the chances your dog gets shot. I understand why it deflates home value.

Probably the kind of buyers who would eventually have their house forclosed on for not paying their mortgage.

My Black cop neighbor keeps an immaculate lawn and flower beds, house is kept up quite well too.
He hated his last unit he was assigned as it leaked oil like a sieve. His latest SUV he's currently parking on the street often to finish Sun bleaching out the oil stains he wasn't able to scrub off/up the end of his driveway. Smart guy, he had the leaker parked nose out and end of driveway so it would run into the drain a short distance rather than all down his driveway.
He works a strange shift so have not actually conversed with him, but wife seems really nice and at least 1 daughter, not so sure about the other teen daughter but she may have just been having a bad day when I met her.
The other multiple cops of 3 races in the neighborhood all seem nice, smile and wave, and they all keep their places up.
Having about 6 cops in the subdivision doesn't seem to affect sales negatively. Last 2 houses built in our corner were sold before completion (including across street from leaking marked unit) and market is going so well the developer has 7 other builds in progress along the far side of the subdivision and 2 in the middle.

I reached out to a friend who is a residential appraiser. His reply was:
"Completely unadulterated BS. Our office will do thousands of appraisals this year and I've never even heard this mentioned."

Police pay is crap so maybe they just don't want to live next to po folks.

It’s mostly young families and I get it they are scared the police car might bring trouble. Not my neighbors fault but potential buyers are telling the realtor that they don’t want the risk. It’s messed up.
I am skeptical of your story. Unless you live in the hood where gangsters proliferate, having a police officer next door is usually a good thing.

Cop car parked next to you makes it look like your neighbors are criminals
Posted on 7/26/20 at 6:48 pm to Dominate308
You should think of it as a good sign. It will keep away the blacks and poors. You would have to deal the the riffraff.

If you fear a police car I don’t want you moving into my neighborhood anyway.
