my sis in law used to brink back fake rolexes from her new york trips...the gold ones were incredibly gold.

There are some crazy good fakes in New York. I was pretty blown away by some that I looked at in Chinatown.

My son was offered a gold ring and a gold necklace stamped 14K by a nicely dressed middle aged woman at a gas station right off an interstate. Her story was they needed about $100 to get a meal and more gas to get home. Lost their wallet and purse...blah blah blah...and she thrust them in his hand to hold them and inspect them. She said they were valued at $300 and $800 I believe. He said he had $17 only after filling up his tank and she said need at least $100. She asked him to use his ATM card. He said he couldn't help her and walked off. He wondered if they were real items. I assured him they were not and gave him a link to common scams.

My van speakers are still rocking. After all these years they are my main speakers. Left over from a shipping mistake for Murphy's.

Think I paid $150 for the set. No complaints.

I got a telemarketing scammer today. Wasted about 15 minutes of their time. Discount on a vacation package but I had to buy right then and there. No callback number.

I didn't have my credick card with me so they had to call my girlfriend. Her number was a rickroll line.

FRICK ME> SOMEONE ALREADY POSTED THIS

Same story from 2013. Guy from Italy
quote:

“I work for Emporio Armani,” he began, “and just left a conference where we made a deal with JCPenney.”
“Come,” he continued, waving me over with his had. “Come to my car, I want to show you some merchandise.”

I looked around, suspicious. Is he a cop, a pimp, a madman? I got off my car and walked over.
“The company paid for this car?” I asked.
“No, I rented it,” he said, and showed me the rental papers.
“Come sit.”

He grabbed three Emporio Armani bags from his back seat, each with small, black boxes inside.
“I’m from Italy,” he said. “I have to be at the airport at four so I can fly back.” He had eleven watches. “If I take these watches with me I’m gonna have to pay 32 percent tax once I get to my country.”
He pulled out his phone—a Galaxy S4—and showed me the price of each watch in the company’s website (ea-urology.com). The cheapest watch he had cost $660; the most expensive one neared $13,000. He grabbed a lighter and, with the steel cap, began to hit the glass of one of the watches. He wasnt gentle.

quote:

“What can you give me for these?” he asked. “Give me $500 and they’re all yours—eleven of them.”

quote:

Since I first published this piece, on October 7, 2013, I’ve had at least ten people contact me through Twitter. A similar scenario happened to all of them, with only slight variations in the story. Below are a few of the things they said:
