I got to give it to this guy, he was smoother than most.

The guy was in mid-50's, looked like Uncle Fester.

I was at a coffee shop talking to the owner and this guy walks in, barely speaks English, he is from Italy. After deciding not to order anything because he was looking for something in particular, I ask him about Rome, Venice, etc. (I am going there in a few months). We chit-chat about Italy, and he tells me he is in here distributing watches that his sister designs in Rome.

He then asks me if I like nice watches and I knew right there he was a con-artist, but I play along. He tells me he has something for me and we walk out to his car. He has a Benz rental, he gets in and pulls out four watches, all nice and packaged. He says he is leaving to go home in the morning and cannot take these back because he will be charged a ton of money at customs.

He shows me the website for the watches, all priced $1000+.

He shows me his passport, airline ticket, and everything, all added up pretty well.

He says his son's birthday is tomorrow and he wants to get him a Nintendo here and he needs $300 to buy it.

I could have gotten $5000 in watches for $300.

Here is the website for the watches

Sounds like this street scammer was actually approached by you, not on the street. Talk about misleading!
