Curious as to the level of involvement his parents had in his life.
I'd imagine one of three possibilities:
1. Absent father
2. Abusive (not just to him, either) parents/ alcoholics
3. Overly religious types that shun premarital sex

That highschool is all of about 15 miles away from where I live. He's not getting much sympathy up here.

This is what I don’t understand. Why don’t we do this? It makes sense from a financial standpoint and to rid the world of a piece of shite. The only argument I can think against it would be innocent people charged with something they didn’t do and get executed.

I agree, but you answered your own question.
Because of the doubt, same reason it takes a decade or two on death row to kill anyone. I think when we have no doubt, we should use cruel punishment.
