Schools not allowing phone usage in 2023 is archaic
There are alot of private schools even allow them now and almost all of these stories I hear about are from public schools.
They're more concerned with how to figure out how to pass Johnny so their scores look good than actually stepping into reality and doing what's best for the kids.

i'm surprised you haven't called your phone provider yet and asked them to not bill you for that week due to this heinous act by the school. or ask the school to pitch in on the bill for that week! the insanity!

He’ll start classes a week or so after high school ends, so they can practice over the summer.
I don’t keep track of his location (I don’t share my location with him or my wife)…but my wife sees the top speeds and talks to him about it. I bought him a new sports car, so she likes to make sure he’s keeping it safe.

YOu had to keep a dime in your pocket for that one phone call home.

Would you like to accept a call from “mom come get me practice is over”?

You and your wife should stop doing this immediately.

He did say this:
So his kid deliberately doesn't follow the rules that other kids follow.
If the penalty for that kind of blatant disregard for the rule is "take the phone away for a week" then that's what he and his wife agreed to when they sent the kid there at the beginning of the year.
If the penalty is different for other kids then by all means he has a legitimate issue.
They also have every right to send the kid to another school if they don't agree with the rules...

A government employee, or even private school employee, isn't taking my personal property. But before we get to that, my kid is gonna follow the rules.

They should crush it in a drill press in front of the whole school.

Why if they know they’re not supposed to have them?

I feel like you're insecure and very insecure through your kid

Is it a private school or a charter school?

how a school can keep a kid’s phone for a week.
This is weird.

Not saying he is. Shave his head, duct tape the phone to his back, suspend him from school for a week…it’s just odd to take a possession we pay for and use to track him.
They’re trying to get him to pay attention in class. If they give it back he’ll be doing the same thing again tomorrow.

Here is a little factoid…. Teenagers survived.. and yes even thrived.. prior to the widespread use of the cellular phone.
A lot of us are very lucky that smart phones didn't exist in our teen years.

here's a hint from somebody in education:
his phone wasn't taken away because he had it out one time in class. it was taken away because he repeatedly disobeyed.
i'm sure i'm wrong someplace sometime, but i've never seen a teacher take away a phone for a first time infraction.

Sounds like mom should be more mad at the kid for breaking rules and losing phone than being upset at the rules itself.

Never said it was. We didn’t even ask what happened, we side with the administration…I just think it’s odd to keep a piece of property of that nature.
He has Saturday school suspension for it as well…he deserves it.
He has a fricking iPad with cellular service that he uses in school, so it’s fricking dumb fir him not to leave his phone in the car…but he forgot. Which is bullshite.
