I honestly had no thought of going to an Oral Surgeon vs. a Dentist, glad this thread was made. Although, I think they have an Oral Surgeon that comes in and does the extractions, because they told me it wouldn't be the dentist doing the procedure. Guess I will have to find out more information.

While I was still living in Baton Rouge, I needed surgery on my face. The doctor on call at the hospital was one of those. He wasn't there though. There was a schedule mishap.
Well, the doctors supposedly had an agreement that they wouldn't take each other's patients (the ones treated while on their shift). The other doctors refused to see me. This was a problem because the doctor that was supposed to see me didn't take my insurance (BCBS). They told me the surgery would have to be paid out of pocket.
I laughed and called them crooks. I went to my primary physician, got a referral to a plastic surgeon who took my insurance, and got fixed up.

I had no problems with 3/4 of mine. And the problem with the first was that it was a semi-emergency (it had to come out, ASAFP) and I chose poorly on the doctor.
The other 3? Like taking candy from a baby.

I remember using wet tea bags to lightly bite on, and it helped to stop the bleeding.

Thanks for the info, that's interesting. I have to go tomorrow to get some fillings (apparently I clinch my teeth too much), so I will find out more information then.

General anesthetic to get teeth pulled/ cut out?
I had three done at once, with just a local and gas...10 vicodin for the road.
Dry socket or two cuz I was 18 and a smoker.
But I never came crying to the OT

I loved getting mine out. I got knocked TFO in the office, had no issues with bleeding or sockets, and got some rad pain meds.
I wish I had more wisdom teeth so I could get them pulled too.

This is typically not elective surgery. That's like saying, I strongly recommend not having your kidney replaced.

I had one bad experience with a clot that dislodged after a wisdom tooth extraction. Bled all day before they fixed it the next morning. Even still, that wasn't as bad as the pain I was going through before having them out.
As far as pain after extraction, I'd say it was minimal.

This. I had 3 wisdom teeth removed 2 weeks ago and the bleeding stopped within 2 hrs.
Was hoping for a piece of cake, but the left lower extraction site, or should I say the gum right near that last tooth is giving me issues. It's still slightly swollen and pretty tender. My left side jaw is still pretty sore too. I went back to the oral surgeon last week b/c I thought maybe it was infected or something. He said nope. Said pulling that bottom one was a bitch and the swelling & soreness should go away.
We'll see. I think he may have fricked something up.

I went to am oral surgeon, and got knocked out. I then basically lived on Jello, painkillers, and weed for the next few days.
