frick, I'm scheduled to have mine taken out in two weeks. I figured after two ACL replacements last year, it should be a breeze, but maybe not.

Meh. I'm in the military, so I didn't really ask what his official title is, we all go to the dental clinic.
I do have a private ortho who I got my Invisalign through.

when I got mine out at 20 years old, they gave me 3 valium, one to take the night before, and 2 when I woke up.
Then I got there and they started a drip IV, told me to count backwards from 10-1, I maybe got to 7 and the next thing I recall is waking up in a wheelcheer getting lifted into the car.

That's exactly where I was. Had ACL surgery within the year prior. Wisdom teeth were a breeze. Like I said, it was almost fun. Was heavily sedated via IV drugs, so kinda lucid, but mostly loopy. My oral surgeon was awesome, though. Played Jim Croce's greatest hits during the procedure. I was bummed they didn't give me percocet after.

Wuzzy. The Navy took mine & I was eating Pizza & drinking Beer the next day enjoying my 3 days off work!

Go to an Oral Surgeon and you won't have a problem. They go to dental and medical school. There is a reason they make serious bank.

I had a wisdom tooth yanked by a dentist who was a little bitty woman -- we're talking about 5 feet tall, less than 100 pounds. It was awful. She shot me full of drugs so I didn't feel anything, but she was using all sorts of tools to pull out the tooth and putting her foot up on the chair to gain leverage. I was panic sweating through this like I was digging a ditch.

Agree. Had 3 impacted wisdom teeth broken and extracted by oral surgeon. Took pain meds for 2 days but I was surprised how minor the recovery was.

I had mine done by an oral surgeon not a dentist.. I took a grand total of 3 pain pills and was out drinking the next night. Didnt even know dentists did this type of procedure to be honest

I honestly had no thought of going to an Oral Surgeon vs. a Dentist, glad this thread was made. Although, I think they have an Oral Surgeon that comes in and does the extractions, because they told me it wouldn't be the dentist doing the procedure. Guess I will have to find out more information.

The ones I know are DDS and MD. They are trained in Dental and Maxillofacial surgery.
DMD is a Doctor of Dental Medicine.
