As I read the thread I was on the side of the kid. Then I watched the video and the cops repeatedly told him to get out of the car. He didn't! That is not complying!

Poor kid. I'd be scared too, especially with everything going on right now.

no, because your opinions are wrong most of the time. You're a clown.

For those of you with an issue with "Ummmm"- so if a woman says Ummmm before saying no, does that give you the ok to take advantage? Just trying to stay consistent.

Second,

This is such BS. Can we please end the war on drugs so that we can start to eliminate some of these unnecessary interactions?

This is part of the problem. There is a feedback loop wherein most encounters between cops and young black men are negative (not entirely the fault of either side), therefore, this leads to more negative encounters between cops and young black men.

unfortunately, we should have EXTREMELY high expectations for the police to excel at handling the public, even if they are confrontational, noncooperative, dont understand whats going on or in fact criminals.

thats how the loop gets broken.

yeah, a law abiding citizen should comply with officer demands. too many cops die all the time in situations like this. Ok, this was a good ole kid, that's not always the case.

He goes "ummmmm....... patrick?" Not exactly confidence inspiring.
So tase him and arrest him without ever doing anything to properly ID him, then lie about it later is the correct play?

I blame the police because they were the ones in the position to handle it the right way in the beginning and they didn't

Neither did the kid.

The kid isn't professionally trained for this situation like the cops are.

The cops are clearly the ones at fault here. Clearly.

If you can't see that, you are out of your fricking mind and shouldn't be debated with any further.

Cops: "What is your name?"
Patrick: "Ummm...Patrick"
Cops: "Can I see your ID?"

OR

Cops: "Tase him"

Dude, they gave him a chance to get out. Even warned him about the taser. Dumbass then tried to slam the fricking door.

Are you guys serious with this?

It wasn't, umm Patrick, tzzzzzzx.

he did comply

gave him his real name when asked-complying
asked to see the warrant-completely within his rights

it wasn't until the cop started screaming about tasing him that the kid really freaked out. And I would too if a cop wouldn't show me the warrant. That is sketchy as frick.

The cop was never going to "realize his frick up" that is why he lied right after
