Nope. Not once did they say Michael Clay you are under arrest, we have warrants.

This happened in February and has only picked up steam because of the current climate. The police are pursuing revocation of his probation. This is a complete abuse of power. Without the body cam people would have looked at Patrick's mugshot and said, "Ehh deserved it." The cops in this case must have a 2 digit IQ to not be able to get the info they needed without resorting to tasers, even though Patrick did state his name.

Cops fricked this situation up big time. These cops should either get retrained or fired. Get them off the streets. This isn't North Korea.

He gave his name and stood up. He became more resistant when they said he had a warrant and was under arrest. Again fight or flight is a natural response. It's normal to kick in when all of a sudden you're under arrest for no reason.

This exact thing has happened to me before
They failed to properly identify you, tell you that you have a warrant, not provide that warrant, yet say you are under arrest?

I don't understand how anybody can side with "Patrick"
Because out expectations are that the police follow proper procedure, not act impulsively, use discretion, and not escalate situations.

Besides, they are professional, public servants, who are given a great deal of power. Our expectations should be higher for them, then the general populace. And we wonder why those in power are so corrupt or incompetent; we dismiss their behaviors and do not hold them accountable.

It's not about being "for" Patrick; it's about holding those who misuse ipower accountable.

Yes. Got pulled over, guns drawn, saying I had a warrant ... I put my hands up, got out of the car when asked and put hands on my hood when asked ... Indentifeid myself when asked and gave proper ID when asked ... I had zero issues at all ..

And if Patrick did as I did he would have had no issues as well ...

Good for you, man. Not everyone reacts the same when some angry dipshit cop tells him he's being arrested for no reason at all after asking what the warrant is for.

Well if they asked for his ID, nothing probably would have happened either. Besides, the cops that pulled you over may have been better cops; why people assume cops that act incompetently will after like competent cops is beyond me.

I agree that not everybody reacts the same. But we shouldn't be upset at the cops if somebody acts defiant and like an idiot and they act as they did in this video .. Imho fwiw

I completely disagree. He has no duty to be polite or conform to your definition of a good attitude. He was asked his name and gave it. He asked what was the matter and what the warrant was for and got nothing. This is 100% on the cops

It is attitudes like that that will get you beat up by cops with justification.

So you have no duty to act polite to cops but they have a duty to be polite to you? lol. They don't have a duty to be polite, they have a duty to do their jobs under their guidelines. Patrick acted like an idiot. If Patrick would of diffused the situation himself nothing would of happened. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

The cops were serving a warrant, they have every right to be suspicious.

Yes it's called professionalism and expectations of authority and serving the public.

People should be respectable to police, but police MUST be held higher standard.

Not everyone is you lol. If that would have happened to me, I would have sued the officers involved. Too many times police go to issue a warrant, and they nab the wrong person. That is unprofessional and unacceptable.

Well they lose that right when they fail to properly identify the person and provide the warrant, all while serving the warrant to the WRONG person.

It's pure incompetence.

The cops acted like bigger idiots. I probably would have been confrontational as well if three cops did that to me, up until the point they threatened to tase me. But that was still bullshite on the cops part.

I normally side with LEO since my wife is one, she even agreed the 3 douchbag cops need some sort of punishment.

The whole video is dumb. I would say dumb police work, but that can't be classified as police work.

Patrick should get to tase each of the officers twice.

So the same thing did not happen to you. You were asked for your identification card, Patrick wasn't. You were not placed under arrest when you immediately stood up. Patrick was.
Patrick gave him three chances. He told them his name twice. He got out of the car and stood up.
This one is on the officers. And that is what charges were allegedly dropped

The problem was that they weren't serving a warrant, it's how they went about it.... Nothing they did seemed well coordinated, they didn't show a warrant, they didn't tell him who they were looking for, and they didn't even taze him when they should have (when he started to get back into his car)... Not saying he deserved to be taxed because the whole situation was fricked from the start, but he could have got himself really hurt going back into his car like that

Kid asked to see the warrant which is completely within his rights.

Since he knew he was not he person they said they were looking for, how would seeing a copy of the warrant for someone else have de-escalated the situation? It was an irrelevant request. It was crystal clear that the most important thing to establish at that moment was his identity.

Would not "I'm sorry but you have the wrong guy. My id is in my back pocket. I'm going to slowly reach for it " have been a better play?
