Sometimes use Grok. Check Hugging Face for even more specialized AI programs. Search engines are dead.

Does ChatGPT give you woke graphics and black inventors?

I use Grok instead of Google search. It’s awesome. ChatGPT is, too.

It is fine for simple answers, but the more complex the answer needs to be and the more caveats needed, the less effective it is. The lack of citations certainly adds issues as well.

It still lacks accuracy. I asked a question and it gave me the wrong answer. It only regurgitates what’s on the internet whether or not it’s true.

Yep. Grok 3 for me. Get to the answer much faster and sources. No need to sift through ads and garbage links that are just promoted. Y a fake algorithm.

You can ask for citations. It’s a non-issue for me.

I have ChatGPT turned on the iPhone and its pretty cool to get detail of things while I am driving as an example, asking for details on a restaurant.

Do legacy search engines not do the exact same thing? I’m not speaking to one being better than another, I’m just saying the nature of all of these are compilations of what they search.

You should still at least TRY to verify what your AI bot tells you.

Sometimes it completely fabricates information, even inventing research papers and attributing them to people who had nothing to do with the research.

What you get from it depends more on HOW you ask it something than WHAT you ask it.

I realized I didn't communicate my point well but the dogs were at the door and I didn't bother to come back and edit. It isn't so much the lack of any citations; it is that the citations are often poor. I occasionally ask questions in areas in which I have a high level of expertise. The problem is often AI is not using what would be considered authoritative sources in the field. This will change as it evolves, but right now, AI is in its infancy. In areas I understand well, I find it to be rather shallow; early WIki days sort of shallow. For me, I find it fine for general interest things but lacking beyond that.
