Someone mentioned Black Mouth Curs in the other dog thread so I looked them. Cool looking dog and apparently they are super loyal and live to please their master. Plus it's damn near the official dog of the south.

We just picked up an english bulldog pup. Sweet little thing but I swear it shits more than any dog i have ever owned. They must have the digestive tract of a ferret.

obeying is different than being loyal.

My doberman is still a puppy and only has like a 60% recall. But he is a velcro dog. everywhere i go he goes. I was in the yard and another dog comes running up to the fence, he bolts from the other side of the yard and gets in front of me between me and the other dog barking. very protective.

Same thing happened at night when my fiance was taking him out and he sensed someone walking up out in the dark. got right in front of her growling and barking p a storm. Turns out it was my neighbor, and once he was in the light and my dog recognized him the growl turned in to tail wagging and going up to him licking him.

Black Mouth Curs are great "all-purpose" dogs.

Akitas are gorgeous too. And I hear they do surprisingly well in the South. Is that true?

Absolutely true. We had 2 males from the same litter in Florida; 1 died at 12 1/2 & the other at 13 1/2.

We have a Chow now (my 2nd one).

We are talking about two different breeds...and I think obeying and being loyal is the same thing. If a dog doesn't obey you it sure as hell ain't loyal.

ok.

obeying is being completely trained and sticking to the training. Dogs can be very very loyal but wont retrieve come right when called, or other "tricks" you havent worked into them

mean, any dog will be loyal if you raise them right. But, there are breeds known for their loyalty. It amazes me more southern guys don't like the American Bulldog. It is THE dog of the South. And they are loyal to the death.

A great dog. But like with all bully breeds, they need a during, consistent owner, otherwise they are overly dominate

Mine is 5 years old and goes twice every time we walk, not pellets either, but full on shite. I walk her at 530 AM, wife or I let her out at noon, and we walk her at 800 PM. I have never had a dog that had to go this much, my other dog (french/lab mix) goes twice a day.
