190 yard par 3, 3 iron.

Count it, but no way that was a solid shot.

So you know my swing speed, the loft of my club, the age of my club, the wind speed and direction?

Damn should have had you be my witness.

I had 193 left on a par 5 Saturday and knocked a 3 iron to 8' stiff.

Missed the eagle though

Congrats on the hole in one! I'm jealous. I have holed one in from that far out, but that's different.

I used a PW from 190 out.

Did you take a picture of the ball in the whole ?

If not it doesn't count

I couldn't carry 190 with my irons (5iron lowest)

I'd hit my 4 wood and that can be 180-220.

Sounds like an incredible shot.

I was kinda sad when I made a hole in one.

There has to be a best golfer to never make an ace, and I wanted to be in the conversation.

Congrats. I've been playing for 16 years and still don't have one.

I've holed out twice on par 4's though.

If I ever hit a hole in one I'm jumping into the nearest lake. It's a pack I made with myself when I was 16....
9 years later I'm still trying

No.

Exactly.

But the people that choose to comment on someone's club selection on a hole without knowledge of the conditions or the clubs used is generally indicative of a distance exaggerator

Then why did you make the "How did you do at Firestone?" comment?

Did you know the conditions?

The rest of your post is irrelevant.

Someone hits the ball farther than you and your sn is "Golfer" so you felt the need to try and call them out. Just because they hit it farther doesn't mean they are better than you. Don't let your insecurities the best of you

You said you "CAN" hit a 7 190 too.... Then how'd you do at Firestone?

No, I got it. Think you may be having trouble with mine.

You were talking about people making judgments without knowing the circumstances of the shot. Yet, when what's-his-nuts said he'd hit 6 or 7, you dropped your dumb "Firestone" comment, like you have to be on tour to hit the ball that far.

I didn't see him give specifics on conditions...
How do you know he didn't mean 6 or 7 with the wind helping?

Just don't be so much of a hypocrite next time is all.

3 at 190 is a heck of a shot. Congrats to op.

Well, because he said it would be a 7 or easy 6...my Firestone comment was a quip to call him out on his BS.

And like I said, people that actually hit their clubs that distance don't pop into a thread about an ace and drop that comment. It was even proven correct when he went back and corrected himself that he was off (by more than 1 club).

This has nothing to do with insecurities about distance or my ability to play golf. I know I suck. It has to do with my experiences of over 20 years playing that those who are willing to share their distances of their clubs without solicitation or in situations where it's completely irrelevant are, almost always, lying or grossly exaggerating.

190 is an easy 5 or 6 for me and I suck

Somebody tried to call me out a while back for saying I hit a 4 or 5 on a 210 yd par 3 at my home course (I have hit a 6 plenty of times when the flag is in the front or the wind is behind me). I don't always hit it accurately but it's the right club.

ETA: congrats to barry. consider me jealous
