I’m sorry for you. Prayers for the family.
Go spend some time with your family, if you can.

Sounds like it either clipped his lung or tension pneumothorax.
Nothing you can do without the proper equipment.

Yes. Apparently he was stabbed while fighting in the car. As I said wasn't there from the start but it looked as if the guy was defending himself and then trying to leave the area.
damn. like Others have said, you did all you could, never a good ending with these things.

That is insane. Not that it matters, but what were they arguing about?

Sucks man. Hate it for the kids. Hopefully the guy you know is put away for life.

So you were an eyewitness to a murder and there is no mention of you being interviewed by the police, giving a statement, being taken into the station? How is that possible?
Posted on 6/22/19 at 8:58 pm to OweO
How would he know what they were fighting about?
Posted on 6/22/19 at 8:59 pm to DownSouthCrawfish
So you called the cops to come arrest the guy that you know, correct?

I don't believe I had any reason to be taken to the station because I wasn't involved in the altercation. If I'm wrong on that then take it up with Lafayette Sheriff's Dept.

Was he shot in self defense? It says the suspect also sustained injuries.

I'm sorry man....I really am. My friend you did the best you could to save that poor man. At least you were there to hold his hand. The feel of a warm supportive hand is very important for a dying person regardless of the circumstances of their death.
Breaks my heart the five year old may have seen all this. Seems there isn't a day that passes without me hearing about a tragedy like this.
Senseless killing is right. Your life, the lives of his pregnant gf, his mother, and those precious little children forever changed by this awful event. I pray for the victim, the family members, gf, and especially those precious innocent children he left behind.
.....as for you my friend.....try to find a good minister or counselor, or family member. Someone you can feel comfortable with and tell them how you feel...and don't be ashamed if you cry. The details of this poor man's last moments are gut-wrenching. You're hurting and most likely you will hurt for a long time.
If I may please let me suggest this. After this settles down it's going to be critical you channel all that anguish and heartache in a positive constructive way. IMO you'll need to focus your energy outside of yourself. I mean maybe you might consider becoming a "Big Brother" to a lonely young boy. A boy who may have lost his Mom or Dad. I've heard wonderful things about the "Big Brother/Big Sister" program.
One Day at a time Sweet Jesus......one Day at a time.
