Well I love home and all, but he's not wrong. The things he pointed out are much more prevalent in Louisiana than they are up here.

That said, there are also great things about home that you just can't find in New England. So it's a give and take.

It's really pathetic. It's what happens when you have arguably the worst demographics and government in the country.

I'm sure some of them wouldn't mind getting out every once in a while. shite offer them a pack of cigs or something. But seriously, we have the highest or one of the highest prison populations in the country.

First time I remember leaving the South was when we went to Seattle in the 80's. I was a kid but I remember being awe struck by how clean everything was.. and this is a city that is considered to be grungy. I was just used to Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Because people think it's their right to trash. Read the threads about trash after tailgating.

We do have a lot more trash. I live up north now and it's crazy how clean it is on roadways. Little town I live in has 3 days a year where everyone takes a stretch of backroads and they give you the trash bags and little picker upper thing. Younleave the bags wherever they get filled and a crew comes get em. Pretty cool to be apart of.

A lot of Massachusetts and New England in general is pretty clean. Vermont and New Hampshire are especially nice areas and there's nowhere in Louisiana that is even comparable. Unfortunately a lot of nice places are either too cold or too expensive. I like it cheap and hot.

I see prisoners out on my stretch of road about every 4-5 days here in Georgia.

And I never thought about it, but there is a higher tendency to litter in LA. I visited there recently with my kids. One day after changing a dirty diaper, I was getting my kids dressed, so I asked my 15 y/o nephew to bag it: put it in a plastic grocery bag so it wouldn't stink before the trash was taken out.

We come home that afternoon, and I'm unloading the car, when I find that morning's dirty diaper, bagged up. I'm all, da fuq is this? Nephew says, "Oh, I thought you wanted to throw it in the canal or something." I ask him, "what about my behavior and personality makes you think I'd EVER do that?"

I was DUMBFOUNDED. Who in the hell would DO that??

Yet the next day, I stepped out of my car in a parking lot, and narrowly missed a dirty diaper.

I notice the same thing about the roads now whenever I come back to LA to visit family. The roads just look way more worn down there as well.

The Phoenix area looks like it has a pretty good highway system but is it clean? I mean, it seems like the area has its fair share of trashy/poor people + fast food restaurants. Plus its dry as shite so it seems like trash would linger longer.
