Just got my daughter a Chevy traks. I thought it was about the best value out there for what you get in a new vehicle. 11” screens,Heated seats and steering wheel for 23k.

I had a Altima (work provided vehicle) back in 2008. Replaced three transmissions and it needed another one when I got rid of it at 180,000

I love the Altima memes

Rented a Rogue last year, it looked brand new and I was surprised with material quality and interior (daily driver is BMW). Was thinking it could be a good value.

Got on the highway and tried to merge - floored the accelerator, nothing happened, and I remembered why I hate driving Nissan rentals.

The new Chevy Trax is a really good buy in that segment.

How well does a 3 cylinder engine hold up?

I loathe driving Nissan rentals as well. The CVT ruins them. I hear they are canceling the Altima soon. They’ve already canceled the Titan, Quest, and Maxima. Not sure what else they will build at the Mississippi plant.

I can put up with a lot for $22,000. That’s probably a decent vehicle for a college kid. If the CVT fluid is flushed every 50,000 miles it might actually go 120,000 or so before having a major issue.

The Chevy Trax is has a 6 speed instead of a CVT so it’s better for that reason IMO. Looks better too.

I thought it was foolish for them to cancel the Cruze, which was their only real compact car. The new Trax turned out to be better in every way though.

Had an altima years ago. Never had a single problem except the entire dashboard melted from the heat/sun. I should've used a sun shade I guess. It was so tacky and nasty I sold the car.

A few months ago we bought our daughter a new Hyundai Elantra for her 16th birthday for about $22K. It’s a great first car and even comes with a 10 year /100,000 mile powertrain warranty. And it came with free maintenance for the first 36,000 miles. The thing I like the most is it has lane assistance. When she sets her cruise control it almost drives itself.

As someone who has bought nissans for the last four vehicles and put 220k, 250, 328k, and 170k so far...with zero repairs.

Just crossed 200k miles in a 2014 Nissan Frontier.

I've always kept up with the maintenance schedule, but every trip now feels like an adventure since I'm over the 200k mark.

I am in the market for a smaller newish vehicle for everyday and commuting. I was leaning hard to the Camry or Corolla because of the reliability of Toyota Yeah I know corolla has a CVT but Toyota CVT's do not break. Wasn't considering a small SUV but the Trax is interesting, but I am not sure about how a 3 cylinder will hold up.

A fully loaded one is around 26k. They will take at least 2-3k off the sticker. And they also have a $500 off for first responder or healthcare worker discount. The one I was looking at had black rims, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and huge screen. But like you said, not a lot of info on the engine out yet. But it does get around 30mpg.

Honda is such a damn reliable vehicle.

Civics and accords are the best. Sold my accord with 225K on it and never had an issue outside of scheduled stuff. Was an amazing car.

We bought our daughter a Trax last year. It has been a great vehicle so far. She got it in December. We compared used vehicles and new vehicles and for the price point we couldn’t pass up the Trax. We got the base model and it still has a lot of features. It’s been the perfect first car for her and we feel comfortable that it’s a reliable vehicle.

If you do some quick internet research you will this is the exception not the rule.

I asked the guy who owns the shop where I take my vehicles about CVT transmissions and he said Nissan was the worst and the Altima was the worst of the Nissans. This isn't even a transmission shop its a regular mechanic shop but they will put CVT's in because their is nothing to fix on them it is just take out and replace with a new one. I asked him how often they change a CVT in a Toyota and he said they never have.

2017-- We also had a 2017 Nissan with CVT. 80k miles. The first thing they asked when we traded it in for a Hyundai was, "Have you had transmission trouble?"
