Never cheap out and not get the Rubicon. Ever.

Also, I have the least year of the 4.0 in a Rubicon. 189000 miles. Bought it from an old man at 180k all stock.

Other than a rear bearing and seal, a set of plug wires and plugs, and brakes, it is surprisingly reliable. Have a 3.5 inch lift, armor, flat fenders, tire carrier, winch, and wide 33s.

I try not to ever drive it because jeeps are gay.

Buy a used xterra offroad non pro4x instead.

Have you talked to Bob about the midlife crisis he is enduring?

So that narrows it down . Bob is either Larry Leo or Odell Beckham Jr.

Got it.

I've had 3 of the JK Wranglers... Waiting to get to new JL (which is fantastic BTW)

-I've had very few mechanical issues on them. (valve lifter; wheel sensor)

-As far as leaking... two were hard tops; one soft top. The second one with a hard top leaked a little around the window occasionally. The one now has a soft top and it hasn't leaked yet.

-On the Sahara/Rubicon thing... it depends on the options. My Sahara cost more than many of the Rubicons. If you're not off-roading much, don't get the Rubicon, because the extra money if for the off-road stuff.

-You'd have to spend of good bit of money to make a non-Rubicon equal off-road.

Daily driving a Jeep is no big deal to me. I think they drive just fine. And it's all worth it when it's 75, sunny outside with the top/doors off.

I’d kill for a low mileage LJ to build up.

Seriously I had two Wanglers. (Both 2dr 5spds, because I'm a man)... one was a TJ that was a blast to own and the other a JK that was an under powered pile of shite. The first I drove for 5 years the second under 6 months.

You must have had a pre 2012 model before they changed the engines.

I hear that the new JLs have the split axle shaft on the front passenger side similar to the old YJs. i have no idea what they would decide to bring those back.

With about $3-4k, you could have something much more capable than a factory rubicon, FWIW

Even the 07-12 were more powerful than the TJ's more than likely a gear issue

Jeeps are garbage. You’ll be replacing the transmission within 30,000 miles.

not much maybe 50lbs or so But yes, you dont need a rubicon like the 95% of people who buy them.

The Rubicon can't tow as much as the Sahara, but It's probably not that big a deal because the Sahara can only Tow around 3500.

Had a 2017 Sahara for a month now. It's been solid so far and I've had a lot of fun. There's a ton of mountains and trails and off-roading areas where I live (eastern Washington, along the Idaho Panhandle, about an hour from Montana as well). It's been a blast driving around without the top and doors.

But I've been pleasantly surprised at how smooth it's been as an everyday commuter.

I have over 30,000 miles and I haven't replaced my transmission. Knock on wood.
