here's my problem. I hate the leniency on dui as much as anyone, but golf carts should not be allowed on roads. I have no idea where it was so my point may be moot. But if I'm on a jury and the cart was in the road, I'm not sending this woman up for years even if the cart was legally allowed, which they usually are on roadways with speed limits up to 35 mph.

I will add this nugget to the discourse during the stroke recovery and the mess. Twice I was accosted in public and I was not getting out much in those days one was a blue haired younger white woman and the older was an older white woman who actually walked 20-25 feet across the produce section of HEB to get in my face and start yelling at me about not wearing a mask and I pointed out to her that ma'am you just walked across the pantry section to get in my face and yell about me about not wearing a mask and the little HEB produce guy behind me just going to laugh she turned around stormed off

My brother-in-law was killed by a drunk driver in SC. He was on his way home from school when a drunk piece of shite slammed into him going 70 in a 35.

It took a great deal of appealing to the judge for the driver to get a sentence greater than 10 years. SC has traditionally been one of the more lenient states when it comes to DUI resulting in death, but that may be changing.

This a-hole NJ transplant and her obnoxious family need to deal with the fact that her own inexcusable selfishness and ignorance took an innocent life and irreparably harmed two families. The maximum penalty for her IS mercy because her victim got the death sentence, and I hope whichever judge gets this case laughs in her face before giving her 20+ years.

leniency on dui as much as anyone,

It's not a leniency on DUI, it's a leniency on crime, especially violent. DUI fines, with no bodily injury were approximately 500x minimum wage in the 90s. Fines have outpaced inflation more than college tuition in the time since to more than 3x that. Oh, doesn't that "disproportionally impact BIPOC?"

The cart was operating legally on a low-speed road that runs parallel to the beach.

Golf carts are everywhere on Folly and any juror from the area knows that.

I can't wait for the hate directed to people doing on Interstates browsing social media. There's no test for proving you were a distracted driver and killing people, unlike DUI.

I'll wait another 20 years.

If I recall from some of the coverage down here this bitch had two other previous DUIs. May need to be fact checked.

You're saying that you can kill people via DUI, so long as they are in a golf cart. How about drive by shootings? Can you get away with a drive by of people in a golf cart, is that also ok in your book? I'm assuming randomly running them off the road is not just ok but preferred, right? Of all the possible opinions on this case, yours is the worst one.
