Good luck. Encourage him to get some counseling to find the root of his need. Some of us are just not made to drink or gamble.

Mentally weak people with addictive personalities usually just trade one addition for another. Does he smoke or vape? If not, see if you can wean him off gambling/alcohol and onto nicotine. Also many of the most fervent Christians are former addicts, they traded a bad addiction for a good one.

Does he lift? Get him to the gym see if he will get all into that. Or golf, anything that is healthy.

it’s actually quite the opposite… people with addictions are mentally strong. Because it takes someone very strong to keep doing the same thing despite negative consequences and pain. And if they ultimately are able to quit, it is one the hardest things to do in this world… something no one can ever understand unless they or a loved one go through it

Im curious what the legalization of sports gambling is going to do to society the next couple of years. The ability to gamble from your couch is going to be bad for people with an addictive personality. At least with casinos you have to put a little more work into it.

Sports betting is just as bad. It's why I abandoned my 20k subscriber YouTube channel where I used to make videos on the subject

Ehhh but the way they operate is designed to get people addicted. The way they market is key. Thats some grimey shite.

We need Jesus. The power of the dollar has corrupted almost everything these days. People want money and don’t care who they destroy to get it. There is more to life than sucking every cent you can out of already desperate and poor people.

Gambling should be legal I guess,

Damn right it should.

Sorry your brother struggles, but we can't start legislating away thibgs people struggle with. Unless your a cool with a world in which gambling, booze, tobacco, fat, sugar, and certain websites are off limits.

It should be legal but not promoted. The way it's worked itself into sports is abhorrent. LSUhas an official sports book partner. Really?

Every casino in America needs to be shut down immediately because of your brother while the people who are responsible and just love casinos because they are fun suffer because of your brother.

I’m watching my brother deal with alcoholism and an addiction to gambling, which seem to go hand in hand and make each other more destructive. I know that “he should just be more mentally strong” and I wish he was, but until you have a family member go through this, you don’t know how you would actually feel.

I don't care for casinos but support their existence. But also absolutely agree with you.

I've said this at LSU game watch parties all season that these apps are worse.

There's a betting app company running a major ad campaign during NFL and College Games that encourages impulsive "gut feeling" bets. That is absolutely disgusting to me how it's allowed.

I'm going to the casino Tuesday. Bringing a couple hundred to throw on the craps table. Once that's gone I'll just drink a few beers and then chill.
