I tell young couples all the time, it's fine not to have kids, or to only have one. I'm surprised how many are determined to have three or four.
Life is going to get much harder over the next years, no need to bring a bunch of kids into it. The apex of western civilization was likely the mid 80s, we're on the slow downhill side, as we get closer to the bottom, it will deteriorate much quicker.

Who gives a damn how much kids cost? They are what life is about. You don’t have to spend 20 grand on travel ball or go to Disney every year. Find a partner that feels the same. Raise good kids and help this world. I only have two. If I’d found the right woman earlier I would have had 10.
