Sadly, you’re right. Im about at the same point in terms of being open to leaving. It’s heartbreaking what’s become of Baton Rouge and so many other areas.
You’re right that it’d be crazy to turn down those opportunities to stay. I too wonder why the hell we can’t seem to get things right here.
My circumstances at the moment seem to lend to me being here a while longer, but i don’t see myself settling here for the duration.

That’s correct that’s why my sentence stated New Orleans has Houston beat in the areas of traffic and food
That’s my mistake. Read it wrong.

not food , not even close
its sad how yall attempt to hang on to this
I haven’t been here long enough to compare the two but to say it’s not even close is kind of crazy.
New Orleans has a reputation for food around the US and even somewhat globally. It’s not something that is made up.

There's a reason why people move to New Orleans and other cities in South Louisiana and gain 20 lbs right off the bat. It's because our food is good.

New Orleans doesn’t have traffic. No where near what Houston has. Not even close to the shitholes Baton Rouge and Laffy have to deal with.
Food wise, yes, New Orleans smokes them all, especially Houston and their 500 variety Papadeaux restaurants.

Why can’t you just say you were born and raised in Mandeville? Is it really that hard?
I bet when you go on trips and meet other people you’re one of those guys that tells people you grew up and live in New Orleans and wear it like a badge of honor.

Just moved away from New Orleans after living there for 6 years
So you’re in your late 20’s and early 30’s and lived in Lakeview for 6 years?

There isn’t a single thing I miss about living in New Orleans.
Because you never actually lived in New Orleans you fricking idiot. You lived here while you were a little boy. The rest of your life you lived in Mandeville and Baton Rouge.
You don’t know Jack shite about living in New Orleans pussy.

Well said. I plant a seed in my kids every chance i get that when it’s time to go to college or move out, leave the state.
This place is a shithole compared to most every where else

Louisiana undeprices its resources,....basically gave a lot of them away for a bunch of 50-80K jobs, that they'd still have had they not given them away.
The other issue is that we really shouldn't have an income tax. Texas really crowds us out on that. Of course it would require a huge property tax and probably some sort of revenue tax (like Washington State). It would also cut down the opportunities for ludicrous corporate welfare (that generally goes to industry that would still be here without it) that this state specializes in.

The truth hurts doesn't it? Left Louisiana for Colorado a few years ago and it's the best decision I've ever made. The quality of life here is so much better. You truly do not realize how screwed up Louisiana is until you move out of it.

Yea retard I’m 33, moved to Lakeview when I was 26 and moved away when I was 32. Why on earth would I lie about that? I also still own a duplex in Lakeview which last time I checked my Tax Bill its in ORLEANS Parish.
Oh and thanks to Latoya my 2020 tax bill just went through the roof and I will get nothing in return.

You've summed up my feelings more eloquently than I ever could. I still harbor a strange love for the state of Louisiana and find myself bragging about my home state on an almost daily basis. I left in 2012 as a 2LT in the Air Force and could not wait to get back... My(fellow LA native) wife be damned. Turns out she is smarter than me. FF to 2014 and a move to Atlanta later and I realized I had made Louisiana a priority while I was at best their option. Thanks for the TOPS money, I'll never move back.

Another Louisianan that realizes that his state is the absolute worst. I had a chance to get stationed in Shreveport recently and has to turn it down because of how crime ridden and shitty the state is. No state is worse, yet dumb fricks make fun of Texas, California and Florida, while the truly shitty state continues to rot away.

Dominican High School is on Walmsley Street in New Orleans, right next to the New Orleans Archdiocese Offices.

Can LA really be that much worse than Alabama? I mean I live in the supposed happening spot here and it still sucks arse compared to TN. Our state is pretty well a shithole too.

Alot of fricks say this, its usually bc they know they dont have an option to leave.

New orleans food is better, but houston/Texas has new orleans beat in authentic Mexican, tex mex, and BBQ
Louisianans have a bad problem of acting like other states have NO good food. And its bc they know deep down their food and culture is the only fricking thing they have. And id know, bc i was one for 34 years.

serious question: how do you imagine people like OP can "turn things around"?
our demographics tipped the scales the wrong way years ago. and no, that isn't some racist code language because we have about even white and black trash in this state and a large population of working/upper class black people who are not the problem.
but facts are facts. how do you imagine that we can control the lower class mentality that owns possibly up to half of our entire population? what can OP do to "turn that around"?

I'd move in a heartbeat, but wife's family is here so that would mean divorce.
Hopefully, my kids will move out of state for (or after) college. She'd be less tied to this shithole.
