Top 10 GDP in US
1) NY
2) LA
3) Chicago
4) Dallas
5) DC
6) Houston
7) SF
8) Philly
9) Atlanta
10) Boston
Oh please. None of those places are top ten GDP due to their inner city contributions.

Before the discovery of oil and natural gas Louisiana was a poor agricultural state. But many others were too. Problem with Louisiana is that it cannot diversify its economy. No one wants to make major investments here, public education is bad, the weather stinks, and there is nothing to do (unless you are into hunting and fishing). I graduated in engineering from LSU and have lived and worked in Germany, Boston, Missouri , Arkansas, Mississippi, and New Mexico. Boston was the most expensive ,but there was lots to do on a weekday and weekend nights. Many of our political "leaders" are short-sighted and they must be replaced (it make take another century to do this). For Louisiana to advance into the 20th century the economy must diversify and political corruption must end.

or top 10 solely due to white people, either

What? You don’t think Eddie “boom there it is” Rispone will get the job done?

You have no idea how much of a shithole Louisiana really is until you live somewhere else for an extended period of time. The ones who defend it are doing so out of ignorance or just too dumb to know any better.
It’s like the kid who grew up living in a trailer park and sees nothing wrong with living in a trailer because that’s all he’s ever known.

You sound pretentious.
Some people like the trailer park.
Sounds like a lot of bitter bored people who don’t live here bitching. We get it, y’all hate Louisiana and fun times.

The fact this got downvoted even once, proves the point. Alabama, Louisiana, and all those of a kind deserve each other. For those of you who fight the good fight for your home state - bravo. But no one will ever blame you for leaving it behind.
I can’t help but grin when the “best/worst places,” to live come out. It’s the people, not the geography, that make cities and states great.

And New Orleans is way better than Houston to live in
Born and raised right outside of New Orleans. Wife and I both graduated from LSU. Currently in our late 20s and early 30s. Just moved away from New Orleans after living there for 6 years. New Orleans is a complete shite hole and literally only bests Houston in maybe 2 categories: food and traffic. In literally every single other category it absolutely kicks nola and louisiana’s arse in terms of quality of life. There isn’t a single thing I miss about living in New Orleans.

Where exactly outside of New Orleans did you live?
I doubt you ever actually lived in New Orleans

quote:it actually proves nothing at all. The crime ridden, predominantly black, swathes of prime real estate in every major city, including those you listed, do not add any overall economic benefit. And that’s obviously what the poster was referring to. You just want to pretend he was saying some white supremacist bullshite. Gotta play your race card I guess. Makes you feel like a hero.

I can’t look my daughter in the eyes tell her that I love her, I want her to succeed and then put her in a shithole.
Damn, almost brought a tear to my eye. Your daughter is lucky to have a Dad like you.
Can’t imagine what it must be like to be damn near forced to leave a place you love so much and have experienced so much in.
Hope you and your family find greener pastures in the near future.

Not to mention. Here’s my wife’s current offers: 165k in Nola, 240k in Huntsville, 220k in Greenville.
Just to be in a safe area here you have to spend 150k plus on a lot. I’m talking 60’x110’.
It would be a no-brainer for me if I were presented those two options. I'd be a Tiger Dan in Huntsville.

Traffic is not worse in New Orleans compared to Houston. I’ve been living here 7 months and the traffic in Houston is not one of its redeeming qualities.
The interstates and infrastructure is a lot better designed in Houston but there is still way more people.

Lived in Lakeview for 6 years, grew up in Mandeville. Still have to go back to Lakeview to my rental property and every time I’m there I’m reminded that I couldn’t be paid to go back.

I’ve lived in 4 different states and worked in several others and Louisiana is not nearly as bad as people on Tigerdroppings make it out to be.

That’s correct that’s why my sentence stated New Orleans has Houston beat in the areas of traffic and food.

Not pretentious at all. Just being brutally honest.
quote:Yeah and some people like sleeping in tents under the bridge too.
Some people like the trailer park.
quote:How does it sound like any of that? Especially the bored and hating good times parts? Really? That's what you get out of it? Or is that something you just came up with because you thought it sounded just witty and smartass enough to say because you don't like people criticizing Louisiana?
