Dude, I would not base my decision to stay in or leave Louisiana according to who wins the election. You posted a picture of the bag of rocks regarding politicians here.
Were not letting it be the deciding factor but more of a trigger clause. Essentially any shred of hope will be lost.

That’s a terrible trigger. Leave because of all the other factors or stay because you like it there.

Basing any decision big or small on hope for Louisiana politics is doomed to disappoint you. They are all the worst.

Louisiana is a Banana Republic and the politicians are (and have always gotten wealthy). As far as your wife some Medical specialties do very well in Louisiana.
So I guess my advice if you want to stay in Louisiana run for office

Extremely fair, logical response. In all honesty I have a little internal war but I know what needs to be done. Just gonna be sad to leave. Like I’ve said- I love this state and many of the people here but it’s not even a semi-hard decision anymore.

I agree many areas La shits the bed but with my work I am in the general public all the time and meet people on a daily basis almost who moved here recently or moved here a long time ago and they all seem to absolutely love it. I was at work at my main job this morning with 2 guys from Texas, one did IT in Austin and the other is from Fort Worth and owned a lawn business and did oil field work for awhile, he's also in La now.

A friend of mine moved back from Houston, hated it there, hated the people, hated everything about it except the money and of course the schools. His family is much happier here. My side job I did a windshield for a lady from Missouri, they moved here 2 years ago, don't remember what part of the state, absolutely love it here. I live in north La at that.

I make just below national average at fire department I work for and right at national average doing windshields, granted I"m expensive for my area. I pay low property taxes and my house is a hell of alot cheaper than it would be in most other states. We are all happy, our friends all seem happy as do all my co-workers, many of them from other states.

I"m almost 40, lived in the worst areas of Monroe you can live, I know it's not BR or NO but still bad. Did have my truck broken into once, other than that never feared for my life, never threatened or anything. Lady I did work for in Missouri I was replacing a door glass that got broke from someone while she was visiting family so not like it can't happen anywhere. My 4 kids all make straight As in school and have one in college now doing great. It's all how you look at it. If money is the most important thing to you then yeah, I'd suggest go live somewhere else.

ETA: Saying all that, Louisiana needs to lose the Sportsman Paradise label. At least as far as north La, Weyerhauser has recently whored out former WMA land to a real estate company putting in trailer parks. There's literally trailer parks on former WMA land. That's for a whole different thread though. La is dropping the ball for hunters of the state, along with many other things.

I think it's hilarious how the "trial lawyers" always get the blame. Like lawyers aren't in every state.

The first reply is the perfect example of the fricked up mindset of the people in that state.

The OP is still half an idiot, but he's right on most of what he said.

Most laughably racist thing I’ve read on this board LMAO.

Top 10 GDP in US
1) NY
2) LA
3) Chicago
4) Dallas
5) DC
6) Houston
7) SF
8) Philly
9) Atlanta
10) Boston

All of them are multi culture melting pots bringing in people/talent from different areas of the world, and of course within the States.

I used to really defend Alabama and it’s people when I was in school in Tuscaloosa. But my wife (from Bham) and I, wouldn’t live there for any amount of money. The state is dead last in education. FIFTY. Last. No more “thank god for Mississippi.” People actually think schools like Spain Park and Vestavia are these “renowned” public schools. Their test scores are at the bottom end of average in the US.

As for the Louisiana thing, I mean, politics are politics. I actually appreciate the unique setting of LA, and what NO brings to the table as a tourist destination. But the idea that “culcha” kills cities, is what fat, uneducated baws say. The aforementioned top 10 has massive, diverse populations. It’s cool to meet people from different areas of the world. Unique perspectives are good. New is good.

Yes California is weird AF in some areas, but as a country, we need them more than they need us. They would be the world’s 12th biggest economy by themselves.

We couldn’t give away Alabama to Mexico.

It’s hard to get a good builder here. We are building right now. I talked with 5 home builders here. Interviewed 3. Ended up going with the builder our architect has worked with a bunch. All quotes we received were over $300/sf. Avg being $350.
Coming from build costs in Louisiana we don’t have anything in our plans that justify that kind of price. But that’s what people are paying here. All the builders I talked to gave us a 12 month time frame. And it is cheaper for us to build what we want than buy what we want.

Just moved my daughter to Chapple Hill, N.C. She graduated LSUHS and got a job at Duke University Hospital. I would never recommend she come back here to live. My genealogy goes back to the 1760's in this state and living here is all I have ever know. I love my family and friends and I love LSU but there has been a drastic fall off of quality of life the last 20 years and I see nothing that will turn it around. I fear a slow decline into a 3rd world culture will continue. I still have 4 children living in Louisiana but I would totally understand if they looked elsewhere.

I am partially at fault because I helped vote for the Pols that destroyed it.

Problem is, there is really no strong opposition party that will do the right thing. The last one was Jindal, and he sucked.

JBE is doing EXACTLY what a Prog governor would do to a state.
