I didn’t have a clue about the rioting, looting and mayhem until this morning.

Went out on a tuna trip Fri-Sat. Played golf and hung by the pool yesterday. I apparently inadvertently isolated myself from all forms of media and social media this weekend, something I don’t normally do. Waking up and seeing all this shite this morning is depressing. But it also reminds me that I don’t have to get all caught up in the bullshite if I don’t want to. And you don’t either. Just turn it all off and do something else. Good day

This is the best way to live right now. I haven't turned on my tv in a week and am not following any of this all that much. The whole Covid deal just infuriated me with how many stupid people live among us.
Now the riots have taken it to another level.

Hell there was apparently rioting here in downtown Columbia this weekend, cop cars burned, buildings damaged, etc. and I had no clue until I came in the office this morning and I live five minutes away.

Yeah, I knew about the Minneapolis riots, but I was mostly checked out of TD and social media most of the weekend. Had no idea riots were in other cities.

Looks like the OT is full covering the riots and will be for the rest of the week, so I'll probably check out again most of the week.

Too much vitriol.

It amazing how we've apparently just forgotten all about COVID though

You're exactly right. Semester ended two weeks ago, so I've had more free time after work to frick around online. What a nightmare it's been. I deleted facebook 2 years ago and haven't looked back. I don't use twitter. I just deleted reddit, I'll only be checking this site in the morning and maybe for a few minutes at night. The only form of Social I'll have is IG and this site.

Life looks a lot more bright when you hang out with real people and try to make sure your doing the right thing. We did not evolve to comprehend how to cope in a world with billions of people.

Not really. I fully expected this to happen once the media couldn't generate as much sensationalism off of it.

Now we're on to the next thing. Rinse and repeat.

It's literally all we have talked about for 2.5 months and now there isn't a single thread on the OT about it

I think he more so means that it's not amazing that we've forgotten about it so quickly.

We are an easily distracted people.

What did you catch?

My privilege keeps me from having to worry about silly things like riots

I know what he means.

It's still amazing considering how much it dominated the conversation for so long. Even if its a well ingrained part of our culture, that doesn't make it less amazing.

But whatever.

Yeah, I’m with you there. I think I’m gonna have to take a break from the internet for a while.
