We're going to be telling youngsters all about 9/11 the same way our grandparents and some parents told us about Pearl Harbor and the JFK assassination.
Hell, my niece was only born a couple years ago and sometime before or after the year 2030 for a history paper, she will be asking her parents and me why Donald Trump's presidential run was so insane and controversial.
A realization like that makes you feel old and stare at your mortality in the face.

I was in college. it had just happened maybe 30 minutes earlier when I was heading into my first class of the day, which just happened to be history. we asked the professor (who was probably 70) if he could turn on the tv since this is *history* in the making. he refused saying we couldn't afford to lose a day and fall behind the other classes. so we sat there, for two hours, while all this shite was going down, learning about some crap I don't even remember now. stupid.

I wish we'd let it go. Every time we do this the bad guys feel triumph. And the families have that day etched in their psyche and would probably rather not have to hear about it over and over.

And the vast majority of college students even if they were alive were too young to remember it when it happened. For most studying higher ed it’s something their parents talked about and was in the history books.
