Who still has Cox? Welcome to the 21st century Boomer.

How is Cox "old"? My Cox isn't cable, it streamed. I have a small box synced to my wifi. I am not going to just have a few streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Prime. First, I am about to cancel Netflix. There just isn't much on there, that I haven't watched, that is of interest. IMO most Netflix originals suck.

I actually thought about just canceling all of them and then during the summer, subscribe for like two months and catch up on everything I want to watch, then cancel until next summer. Keep prime and Netflix through football season.

Congratulations!
Cox is one of the most evil fricking companies out there. I think they are worse than AT&T. I won’t get into it, but I had to wait until my wife passed away to get rid of them and the whole thing was a nightmare.

I got AT&T fiber and I haven’t had any issues with it. The thing with AT&T and really all of these big companies is that it’s all good until you have a problem or need something from them.

When you get done after a few months, you never hated something worse.

I recently signed a new AT&T wireless contract and they fricked up the agreement so much that I’m gonna pay it off and I don’t care how much it cost. I will never ever use AT&T wireless again.

If I have any sway over anybody, I would use it to steer them away from AT&T Wireless. It is the absolute worst. It actually is debatable whether Cox or AT&T is the absolute worst. I think it may be a tie.

My advice is to do anything you can do to avoid either one of these companies and even if it costs more it’s worth it. They are most certainly the spawn of Satan.

Some areas you are still forced to use Cox if you want at least decent internet. AT&T will offer me 50Mbps for $60/mth

Crazy thing is my neighbors behind me all have fiber, 5 blocks over in front of me has fiber; they just happened to skip over my little section of the neighborhood.
Same here.

After 52 minutes, I am finally free. What a shithole company with shithole service.

That is why I ventured to the location near me and turned in all their equipment-----cable boxes and remotes and kept the internet for now and am streaming for the TV.

The past few days I've been getting booted from the internet feed and losing video streaming and if it continues I'll drop that service too and go with someone else------probably AT&T.

Unlimited streaming from Cox is $140 a month. I'll have to check into AT&T.

unless it was ATT fiber, you screwed up

I wouldn't have switched otherwise.

The main reason I did this is because of cost. The whole ATT/DirecTV package is about $140 less than I have been paying Cox. And yes, I am cutting some extras like HBO and getting rid of my land line.

Wife is the main reason I'm getting DirecTV. She is digitally challenged and I need to ease her into the cord cutting. She likes her program guide.

What the actual frick?

Sorry. It's $140/month
500GB and unlimited data. We've gone over the data a few times so i had to get unlimited. 2 kids gaming, their friends using the wifi to play on their ipad, me working from home, stream everything.
If i went down to 250GB then it's $15 cheaper.

I have called many times saying I want a lower price or I'll cancel. They go look up my address, see that I have no other high speed choices, and then tell me let's get this cancelled for you. And I tell them every time, i don't give a shite that ATT is probably worse, i'm switching the second it's available just b/c you've been dickheads gouging me for the last 9 years.

AT&T will not be better.

frick every last company with a retentions department. If you need to hire people to stop customers from leaving, you're doing it wrong. If Cox, AT&T, ADT, and a long list of others had a "cancel service" button on their website/app, or even just a friendly person who would cancel the service when you ask them to the first fricking time, I might consider going back to them in the future. If you make me jump through hoops to cancel, frick you forever and ever.

Really? I’ve had AT&T phone and internet forever and have never had an issue.

ATT fiber has been a dream since upgrading from DSL.

ATT customer service may suck but the internet itself is better and more reliable than cox

Yup. I understand the ATT hate, but their fiber optic compared to having to deal with years of shitty Suddenlink internet is a ton better (minus yesterdays snafu, but that was some dumbass cutting the line).

Cancelling suddenlink was a pain in the arse as well.

Maybe I overlooked it, but I cancelled a business internet account recently and I had to call and speak to half a dozen agents. They also tried to tell me that my "early termination fee" was equivalent to the remaining value of the agreement which was ~$4800.

Curious - If you switch from Cox and have a Cox.com address, do you have to change your email address ?

I walked into the cox store on veterans with the cable modem and said, cancel my dad's internet. Associate took my info and said all complete, however, you still have a small cable box to return. I said we returned those the first week oh March, 2024. He said, you'll have to take that up with customer service or they'll bet calling the number on the account. I said good luck with that, my dad passed away in 'jury. He looked at me and gave me a grin and said, have a good day!

Total in store time, 5 minutes.
