How long does it take to obtain one from the east Baton Rouge court house? Is it a same day type thing?

I think you can get them at any state health unit.

Gotta go to New Orleans by Championship Square. Take only a few minutes.

It'll take longer than a day if you go to a court house, but it you go to the Clerk of Court offices on Coursey maybe less than.

I had to get replacement birth certificates for my kids. Went to EBR clerk of court downtown with the required documents. Took about 15 minutes.

Do you remember what you had to take? Social security card and DL I'd assume? I don't know where my birth certificate is either

Clerk of Court in the Governmental Building basement. All you need is a drivers license to get a certified copy of your birth certificate and they will do it while you wait. I don’t remember the cost maybe $20 or so.

I got one a month ago and it took 30 minutes because one person was at lunch and three people were in front of me. They have a few chairs to sit in while you wait.

Or

Clerk of Court is no longer on Coursey. They moved into the first floor of the old Woman’s Hospital but that branch does not do birth certificates- only downtown.

Documents needed

Last time I did that it take about 2 weeks. I know folks who have had it take longer. They tell you up to 6 weeks if I recall correctly. If not in a rush, online is the way to go.
