Well this simply isn't true. Under your line of thinking everyone with kids is a welfare recipient.
Trust me, I've been bashing Tesla on this board before it was en vogue, but don't be a dumbass.

Same could be said about the big three. They have all taken government subsidies.
Posted on 7/22/18 at 10:22 am to Napoleon
Not the same. Tesla subsidies are essentially direct payments to consumers to buy a product. The UAW(essentially was a union bailout, bond holders got boned) big 3 bailouts didn't give any preferntial treatment to ppl to buy their products.
Tesla received basically the same amount of money as GM/Chrysler and sell what 40 or 50 times as many vehicles? It's not the same.

How is it’s valuation phony?
Posted on 7/22/18 at 10:24 am to Mingo Was His NameO
Giving ppl money to buy a product is way different than a tax deduction(assuming you still have a tax burden not like the 49%ers).
No kids yet. I think all deductions and credits should be eliminated but to equate a Tesla subsidy to a tax deduction for kids isn't a fair comparison IMO.

They both incentivize a certain behavior through lowering taxes, they're exactly the same.

Holy shite this is retarded.
Tax payers getting money back from the government because the government offers incentives to get their money back isn’t anywhere close to being “welfare”.

I'm assuming you sent the Treasury a check for the subsidies?

The list of items in our daily lives which benefit from subsidy or government grants is quite a long one. Don't be naive.

It’s amazing.
The same people that hate Musk for being a “welfare queen” are the same people that celebrate Trump for bringing back manufacturing jobs.
Guess how Trump is bringing back those jobs? By offering massive tax breaks and incentives.

That's one hell of a generalization.

The people who say stupid shite like he did just have to stick with the Red or Blue script someone else writes for them. Zero original thought and even less flexibility to engage in rational discussion.

And lately via taxing US consumers to subsidize them through tariffs.

A generalization that is more often true than false.

I don't hate Musk. But it's very clear he's a promotional guy who sells first then rushes to build while taking help from the government.
I get it he is a visionary, but he's foremost a self promoter. I don't hate the guy, but I'm not gaga over him like half the people who post here.

Hmmm... who do we all know with this exact business philosophy

He is great at marketing.
And I’ll never understand why people hate the businessman that takes free money from the government when offered. That is just smart business.
Don’t hate the businessman, hate the government that gives him the money.
It’s like Trump taking advantage of tax loopholes. It’s smart business.

That article is cringeworthy in how awful it is with the author just ignoring, well just about everything.
It's one of the most biased articles you'll ever read, I'd question anyone who thinks that is a well known article, it would be like outing yourself as a dummy pretty much, it's that bad.

I don't. But I don't have much respect for the guy either.
