A few of the women I know on Facebook were already sharing one of the sky screaming fake meteorological sites showing the massive hurricane hitting La late next week. LOL

Fulltilt weather? That's one of the scare share sites I always see.

Every SPC outlook is going to be a meganado event, every hour 384 tropical system is likely to turn into a cat 5 and every phantom snow on a model is going to be a crippling blizzard.

"Tropical Storm Central"

He's a barely literate, old dude that scare mongers the shite out of every model run that shows a gulf coast hit. Then goes radio silent on model runs that don't. And there are hundreds of morons that believe him, share his shite, etc.

We need TD to mass report his arse this season, maybe they'll ban him.

likely expecting GOM transit to be too quick (~2 days) to allow development.

That seems like a it could be a positive scenario. A rain maker that doesn’t develop into a storm.

Whether or not it is/was the “worst hurricane season ever” is a very localized opinion. If you’re directly impacted, it will be a terrible season. If you’re spared, it will not be a terrible season.

The 2010 season was one of the stronger hurricane seasons we’ve ever seen, but nothing of note struck the US so no one really gave a shite.

Slack, we don't have to do this every time some jackleg says that ignorant shite. We can just judge them with silent indignation.

Finally, the National Hurricane Center has highlighted a tropical wave forming in the Gulf of Mexico next week, giving it a 20 percent chance of developing. The Gulf is blazing hot, and the old adage I always stick to is that you never want to see a low pressure system there in August or September. However, in this case there are a lot of factors working against the tropical low, including its fairly rapid forward speed. So there are probably a fair number of Gulf coast residents eying the tropical system as a potential salve to drought conditions. Texas, in particular, could use a good soaking.

Whether that happens is going to depend on a rather stout high pressure system over the Central United States. The map below shows a rather intense high developing over Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas next week. If the high is too strong, it will force the Gulf system south of the Upper Texas coast and Louisiana. If the high is further south than that, then again, it will force the wave south, toward South Texas. If the high is weaker or further north, it would allow the wave to come to the Upper Texas coast or Louisiana.

My favorite narrative is how hot the Gulf is. The gulf is always hot in the summer - I’ve never not seen 90 degrees in the summer.

How about how “hot” shear, dry air, etc. are?

The Gulf of Mexico this week is the hottest it's been at any point in any year on record by a wide margin. Weekly averaged Gulf sea surface temperatures have never broken 87°F but this week topped 88°F, an astonishing 1.4°C (2.6°F) above the 1991-2020 average.
