we always talk about 2011. was that also a bad El Niño year?

Actually, no. 2010-2011 was a Strong La Nina, 2011-2012 was a Moderate La Nina. It took transitioning to a more ENSO Neutral phase to finish off that drought.

Here's a good reference for ENSO broken down by year/three month period. Golden Gate Weather

Those equations you posted have value if you're teaching a math class in differential equations; they're meaningless on a social media platform.

Meaningless to poorly educated rubes like you. Dimwits that buy into anything solar-powered because the laws of the natural world have no meaning to you...

Death Valley is about to get a train of thunderstorms. That's pretty cool.

Those same storms have dropped ~2" on the Mojave per radar estimates.

The hot sauce is only for serious threat threads.

Its not a labor of love but one of necessity occasionally.

No one knows what those equations signify,

Any physIcal oceanographer scientist knows them well. You're presenting yourself and making statements as an expert on ocean basin water temperatures and seasonal warming processes, which are misleading and completely wrong.

I'll return to ignoring your uninformed posts, as they contribute nothing to a discussion many, like me, use to monitor and learn from informed expert based discourse during hurricane season. It's why you won't see me weigh in on atmospheric forecast properties or the thermodynamics thereof.

Good luck.

I've already said that one, slack, two or three days ago when I posted the QPF and mentioned that the real Death Valley may see more August rains than the fake one. Keep up, baw.

Know why I said that? Because it has a good shot of actually happening.

2010 into 2011 was rough for the majority of the state, worse in the north to start, but enveloped the majority of the state in Exceptional Drought by July of 2011. The state didn't completely clear that drought until well into 2012.

Ironically also the year of the 2011 Mississippi River flood, highest crest in most areas along the Mississippi River and Atchafalaya River in 50+ years.
