Remember how I was annoying Rummy and saying these type of hurricanes are like tornadoes?

I just edited to throw that in there.

Can someone explain why the latest GFS starts it at 977mb when they're already measuring close to 900? Is that surface pressure or something?

The global models can’t see the small areas where this storm is the strongest at. Don’t use big models for intensity. That’s best for hurricane models.

I don't think I have ever seen a storm this strong before.. I know Wilma was stronger and I followed storms back then, but that pink ring is just something else.. and as someone mentioned above.. the LC is still out ahead of this storm..

And downplayed the residents further inland evacuating because it would be uncomfortable without power like thats the only reason they are leaving. frick off

That's not what I said. I said those that live in the lowest elevations need to be able to get away from the shore. Many of their houses will simply be gone after this. They need to be able to get on the roads and find a place to stay.

I'm not prioritizes anyone's life over another. If you're not in a storm surge vulnerable area the odds of you being killed by wind and rain are pretty close to zero. I'm saying the risk of those in close to the water is exponentially higher than those are a 3 or more miles inland.

WFLA live tracker. If it heads directly into the Bay, it's going to be Noah's Ark level of water in the streets.

Yeah, that was me. The morons were going to stay in their house in Waveland. All that was left was the slab and pool.

I told my parents the same thing before Katrina. The wound up leaving at the last minute. The house was not at its original location when we finally got back into Chalmette. Very fortunate my hardheaded dad finally decided to leave

Is that more convective burst starting at the end of that clip?

I'm curious to see what this next plane finds.

Edit: 899 wow

Recon just got an 898.6 extrapolated pressure. Probably around 900 officially.
