Just saw one reading at 902 mb. This is utterly insane.

and thing is ramping up way faster than they were expecting at the least 24 hours ahead of schedule. They were predicting it to be a 4 by 3pm tomorrow and it was a strong 5 way ahead of that. Prayers to the ppl in the path. Pease put your pride to the side and get the hell out of there if you can.

Rita at 895 is the strongest on record in the Gulf.

Wilma at 882 is the strongest Atlantic on record.

This bitch is gonna break records.

Kind of hard to believe, but here we are.

ETA: And I think that if it is headed toward an EWRC tonight that it should be primed for it tomorrow.

But your entire premise is wrong. Youre acting like Florida has some sort of high elevation areas. The average height above sea level for Florida is 100 ft. Its the second lowest in the country behind Louisiana. In a situation like this you have no idea how the infrastructure will hold up. Everything is a flood zone. Ask New Orleans.

The water couldn't get out of NOLA. Tampa is mostly higher than NOLA and the water is gonna rush back out as soon as the storm passes for the most part. It'll be bad, it's gonna suck a lot in that city after this thing passes. But high winds and rain just aren't the real killers in a hurricane, The storm surge is. Those closest to the water need to leave or they actually will wash out to sea.

I said those in the most vulnerable areas should get priority to evacuate over those that live in areas that won't get storm surge, which is most of the populated Tampa Bay area, should get priority to leave first to ensure people aren't stranded in low lying areas certain to drown.

And downplayed the residents further inland evacuating because it would be uncomfortable without power like thats the only reason they are leaving. frick off

You cant prioritize peoples lives like that

Tell that to the people in the Carolinas. Or is that storm surge?

Looks like one might be cooking up on radar. Hasnt started started but like maybe the initial steps of the process are probably ongoing.

I think that should be expected at this point.

Duke what is your gut and expertise telling you? Will this thing weaken any before landfall?

Remember how I was annoying Rummy and saying these type of hurricanes are like tornadoes?
