I’ve never seen that. Not that much in such a short time.

New Plane recon looking like scary hours.
I do wonder with sheer, if a storm like this is so deepened, does it provide insulation to any degree from the sheer as its dominating its environment at every wind level?

So what’s the minimum distance from the coast you would ride it out? You can only get so far inland in Florida

I'm in the Savannah area and I'm thinking we're going to get some gnarly weather

It may go south of Tampa. Good for Tampa (no surge), bad for Ft Myers.
I’m not sure there is a no surge option for Tampa at the moment. Certainly a less surge option. But I’m amazed at how much sand and surge Helene pushed onto some of the barrier islands south of Tampa like on Casey key. This is looking pretty bad from a surge perspective for all of Tampa to Naples.

How do we think the Cape Canaveral area will fair. I have a friend evacing that way from St. Peter tomorrow morning.
Milton is supposed to exit the state, gusting to 115 mph, at Cape Canaveral. Tell your buddy to take I-4 to the end, then go north on I-95 for 63 miles. Get off, go into Bucee's, fill up with gas, go in and get some food, then go pass out in the truck.
Then he can go home Thurs. morning and see what's left. Good luck to him, and his.

Yep. Unflagged recon winds supported an upgrade to a 5 about an hour ago.
Cat 1 at 1am and now a 5. Crazy
