Glad to see you made it through alright man. A lot of our friends have started getting power back today, hopefully you will soon too.

Did you see the green looking lightning after the eye came through?? That's was insane.

Drone footage, Manasota Key/Grove City

If you do the math, that was probably the highest surge area.

Eye was 48 nautical miles on last recon fix before landfall.

48 nm = 55 miles

55 / 2 = 27.5 miles from center to southeastern/southern eyewall

If you go down the coast from Siesta Key 27.5 miles, you are approximately on Manasota Key across Lemon Bay from Englewood and Grove City.

I don't know what damage the 4 to 5 feet of Helene's surge did there, but most of that video looks like it was done by higher water than that. The guy in the video estimated 4 feet for Helene and 10 for Milton.

This simply was a Cat 1/2 as reflected by its maximum wind gust and tidal surge. WTF is going on? This doesn't make sense at all.

Tiny RMW. Milton was strong in a very small area. When it entered into an unfavorable environment it wasn’t packing enough power over a wide enough area to generate a massive surge or wind threat.

How does Miami keep dodging major storms

Same reason Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Tallahassee and Gainesville dodge big storms, and Orlando escapes mostly in decent shape. They vote the proper way

You mean by being on the dole and repeatedly voting for more government? Proper isn't in these people's vocabularies.

you could save on cost of demo and just demolish rest of tropicana field since they building a new stadium anyway

they could play at a spring training site until new stadium is ready for use, vegas doing something similar

Any news out of Venice FL? Know of an older lady that chose to stay not sure how far that surge pushed inland off the beach.

Power in New Smyrna Beach (South of Daytona) went out at 1050pm last night and CAME BACK ON at 1050am today.

12 hour turnaround is crazy, but we'll take it
