No sarcasm here, but that's a benefit of barrier islands. Hence, the term. Those who choose to build on them should understand the risk while enjoying the beauty.

Word from LBK was that the surge was lower than Helene, so here's hoping damage was less accordingly.

We came together after making LSU change their schedule.

The rebuilding is almost complete.

Anyone saw any update from Anna Maria? It’s one of the few old Florida beach places left, I know they got damage last week with Helene. Haven’t saw much with Milton on the area

Milton could not have damaged Anna Marie anymore than what Helene did. I know St Armands is stil under water but no word on Siesta. I would have to think both went under. I got word our house in LBK has some missing shingles, broken fence and the garage door blew in a little, but no water.

Edit.... I guess I should state, from water damage. It's possibile that AMI took some wind damage that they did not get from Helene. I wonder how that works with Insurance. 8' of water from Helene and now no roof due to Milton. Thats a fiht I would not want to be a part of.

because most of the "majors" that hit in the US hit in the Gulf and not in the Atlantic.

So Miami typically gets them before they become monsters.
example: Katrina was 1 when Miami got her.

Since 1990, only 3 Storms have hit anywhere on the East Coast as a Cat 3 or above.

19 have hit along the gulf coast as a Cat 3 or higher.

Glad to hear you’re all right down there coozan.

I have electricity, but no Internet. I have a few small branches down no roof damage, no vehicle damage, we came out better than a lot.

I am watching ABC Tampa and they are showing some hell on earth down in Palm Beach County. Cortez Road by you has substantial damage.

After Andrew, friends in Miami remember sitting out at the entry to their subdivision, cleaning their guns every day for many, many weeks just to discourage some of the foiks out 'for a ride'.

Just got back to my house in Punta Gorda. I live one mile from the harbor.

I don't think the power ever went out, because I was able to check my security cameras all night last night, no damage to my boat, no flooding at all although it did get kind of close to my house, and no fallen trees, even though I have a couple of palm trees, a overgrown lot behind me, and two oak trees in the front yard.

I am fricking pumped beyond belief right now.
