Where are y’all seeing the reports it’s a Cat 2 and is weakening fast?

pretty clear all along it was going to weaken pretty significantly before landfall.

This wasn't pretty clear at all. There was some information suggesting that dry air could impact it, but no one was forecasting significant weakening.

You're practicing revisionist writing in addition to Monday morning quarterbacking.

think public servants like the Tampa mayor erode confidence when the engage in histrionics like “if you stay your house will be your coffin” and then turn out to be wrong.

we saw this with covid. Its obvious that some people in power think its perfect acceptable to lie to the public if its for the "greater good". When in reality, the lying degrades confidence in authority. Its the main reason I'm so skeptical of anything with the fedgov and academia; they have no problem lying if they think its the "right" thing.

It’s going to be a Cat 1 pussycat by landfall.

It's those damn tornados that will be the bigger problem. Especially overnight in the dark.

As was the Tropical Tidbits guy who actually showed what should happen. He was not certain of the weakening rate but only that shear Wascom going to be present and that the hurricane would weaken as it approached the coast.

Correct. And due to 30+ mph shear predicted, which materialized. It was unclear exactly how much it would weaken, but pretty impressive if you ask me. Not sure what people are bitching about.

Someone has to be wrong.

And they have to pay for it.

Wobble Tracker has seen a significant move more toward Tampa Bay, moving North of what most have predicted for the past 24: Sarasota

Landfall could be as soon as 5 hours but it's supposed to slow down some and be in about 7 or 8 hours according to latest NHC forecast. The NHC advisory in 45 minutes will tell more.

But it is ahead of schedule so far.

I don't get it either. I'm thrilled that Milton didn't maintain its strength and that the NHC was correct.

Now we just need Milton's surge forecasts not to verify and we're good. The tornado threat is causing enough damage I'm sure and the TS force winds are going to create problems across the peninsula.
