Glad someone linked back so I saw this image from last night. This is when the eye wall was complete and at max intensity. The colors don’t look impressive because it’s far away but you’re getting that circular return anyways because the eye wall is so tall and intense.
Now compare it to the closer up and sloppy mess. It’s missing the back half of the eye wall as recon confirmed.

tBoat,
As I look at sat and the recon data this morning, one wonders what the evidence is exactly for 145 mph currently.

Tip on garage door:
>
Pull your Bronco all the way up against the door as close as possible once you close it. Also put any other of those heavier objects up against door where you can.
The vehicle may get a few small scratches/dents if the door moves a little, but it is better than the garage door failing and allowing the full force of the wind to possibly compromise the ceiling and/or interior wall in back of garage.

Would it make sense for him to turn it around with the tall end on the door?

Not a bad idea. One of the most common failure points for homes during high wind and tornadoes is the garage door. Once it goes in a tornado, the house often follows.

I wonder if he could put the trash cans and whatever is in the garage in his house? That way, maybe he could park both vehicles in the garage for protection.
I am not anywhere near Florida and my stomach is knots for all of you
(yeah, I know trash cans in the house would be gross, but if saves his truck, then it might be worth it)

Yeah, leave the Silverado outside, that Bronco would get tossed...
All joking aside, do you have another vehicle to back in front the garage, if not put the truck more center of the door to protect it in the middle.

If I can give some advice, and only take it if in flood area, get those cars out of the garage if water starts rising. Saw many a house get demolished as those cars become a battering ram floating in water.

I would also park the Silverado parallel (length-wise) to the garage door and right up against it.
Garage doors are the weakest point of most well-built homes, and I saw several doors that failed during Ida.

Wxman57 on S2K responding to someone saying the surge will be worse than Ian:
“Not necessarily a larger surge. Milton is much smaller than Ian and it will likely hit as an upper-end Cat 2, maybe a weakening Cat 3. Lots of dry air entrainment now, along with increasing shear. Milton is not the same hurricane it was yesterday.”

But backed in, at least he has the aerodynamics of the front end to protect the door. The bed will only do so much.

How long did it take you to put up the metal covers...looks good...see the neighbors across..didn't board up....anybody else board up around you...with the wind and shite that goes flying, good call on that
It took me about 2 hours to put them up. They are fairly well designed and easy to install. The homes that dont have them, have hurricane windows. We opted for these instead. Much cheaper and they should protect the glass better.
I left a couple off my slider so we had a way out from the back. OUr front door is boarded up. We can get out the garage or the slider. Plus, I wanted some ability to see out. Our lanai is facing north so it wont get the hardest of the winds so Im taking a chane not putting up the last two panels so we can see and get out.
