How will Lutz looking for impact?
Probably ok.

The greenery is the issue. Also lots of lakes.

Lots of trees in Lutz.

Got a coworker in Port Charlotte and she says it's starting to deteriorate this morning. She's staying and believes she's safe from the surge.

Is she close to the water? Most of Port charlotte has a decent chance of being inundated.

Obviously it would suck in either place, but I’m so much more at ease in our concrete block home here in FL than I ever felt in the Midwest. That and the fact that tornados tend to be smaller here.

I just looked up her address. She is 2.8 miles from Gasparilla Sound unfortunately. She's staying because her neighbors who are "more experienced" say they've never flooded before. I'm concerned she's in for a rude awakening.

I'm all about the adrenaline rush from storms but no way I'd stay close to the water for a hurricane of this magnitude.

As far as storm surge goes, if she’s in a zone that’s been called to evacuate, then she shouldn’t be there

If not, she’ll probably be fine

Yea unless her house is raised 12-15 ft off the ground she's in trouble.

Pinellas county has at least 2 shelters currently open that are within 3 miles of the coast

Proximity is not the only factor here
