Ryan got the increasing strength overnight correct. Says it will be dry for Bama game but windy.

I think the key is how windy it gets when it passes over and if electric is working and roads navigable.

Agreed. I think weather will be much improved by game time, but if there are widespread power outages and trees down that could be an issue for the game.

It’s almost as if those issues were foreseeable.

The issue is people. They could do whatever they want warning wise and it wouldn’t really work

That's precisely why we shouldn't make it more difficult.

AI has seized control of the weather machine?

Pretty impressive forecasting though.

Recon fiddna punch the NE eyewall. We’ll see what sort of punch this quadrant has developed. It’s generally been secondary in intensity to the more robust SE quadrant.

Major Hurricane Isaias impacts will spread quickly inland with tropical storm force wind gusts to Tennessee state line by early Saturday.

The winds at / near landfall from Mobile to Destin might be more intense/extensive that previously thought as Isaias will be a Category higher at landfall compared to yesterday's forecasts.

Yeah, the AI forecast for this looks to be remarkably accurate

Also, people need to travel to get there early in the day while the storm has not passed, and they will take up hotel rooms that people leaving the coast would otherwise use. Also, the police and emergency personell would be much more useful helping closer to the coast.
This is a majorly stupid, selfish arrogant move. But it is Bama and and their cheerleader Sankey, so not surprising.

Great news is it’s moving at 14mph, hopefully that continues. A very underrated metric IMO is the ground speed the storm is moving. Or whatever it’s officially called

we were supposed to be in Gulf shores the whole weekend. Went down Wednesday and left yesterday. Figured one good day at the beach is better than no days.
What I always think about with these storms is how bad these things must have been for the people on the coast 100-200 years ago when there were minimal warnings. Wednesday was beautiful at the beach as well as yesterday. The only change you could “see” was that the waves were more intense and the water noticeably dropped in temp from yesterday morning to afternoon. And yet 36 hours later it will be getting absolutely hammered. Very grateful to live in the times we do where even with tornadoes we have some kind of warning besides our roofs getting ripped off in the middle of the night.

Like the movie Jaws the monster is lurking as the eyewall comes into view
