Sounds like the airport is damaged... might could get some supplies via helicopter from St. Croix though.
good point, it's seriously just an impossible situation right now. Terrible for those still on the island, i can't imagine

Will hit St Martin/Antigua/Barbuda at 2pm tomorrow as a Category 3 hurricane. A Cat 5 and Cat 3 within 96 hours.
I didn't realize this. Anything not already destroyed is about to be.

Tampa Fox 13 just said gusts of 74 are expected there. Lake Placid is looking at gusts of 123. The current projection puts the eye 10 miles west of the Hangit household.

I heard in passing on the news this morning that the Brits and Dutch were sending troops to their islands. Who knows when they'll get there though with Jose coming through.
How close are you to Tampa? My cousin lives in Land o Lakes and I tried talking her to bringing her family to Louisiana two days ago. Her husband works for Tampa FD and has to stay.

How many pages back for the updated projected path? Supposed to play in a tournament in NC next Wednesday. Not worried about wind or flooding but don't want to deal with delayed flights and get in the way of evacuees.
The OP automatically updates with the latest from the NHC, but here you go:

I saw that. I'm sure America is already sending a couple of vessels and a lot of troops that way, but Jose is really fricking everything up.

just for shits and giggles... the 06Z GFS has what looks like potential Lee seemingly kicking the FG through the FL straits
but you know... > 200 hr GFS is just something to laugh at

Been on the turnpike from Orlando for about 1.5 hours and made it about 40 miles. Gonna try I-75 and jump off at some point and start hitting US 44

If you're truly in the green swamp, you're not far at all from me.

Too far to go west and hit U.S. 19?

35-40 miles. I am bailing if the path stays the same.

You probably haven't passed 301 yet. I'd get off there and head north.

If water is blown in from the bay, depending upon the size of the surge, he has flooding to worry about as well.
I'm going to kick his arse old school style like I did when we were kids if my niece is stuck there with damage AND flooding. His wife is a Brit and never been through a hurricane before, either.

I have friends in Clermont. Taking back roads there is about 35 minutes for me.

Eye wall replacement cycle is wrapped up, and Irma has low shear, warm waters, and 48 hours before landfall. She's going to take some time to regroup, but outside of another eye wall replacement or Cuban landfall, there isn't much to slow her down unfortunately.

The Wasp is already there and there are more ships either on the way or staged.
