Storm is starting to leak WNW slightly in the last hour or two. That is a good sign that we are seeing (or continuing to see) even the slightest bit of northern movement.

Not good news for some of us

I have studied meteorology for 30 years and I am still amazed sometimes how forecast models work. Like presto, Irma is pulling more north and moving at 280 degrees. What the fear would be if the NHC only released a 72 hour intergovernmental forecast like they did prior to the 1990's ? Fansinating how supercomputers can forecast a storm 120 hours in time.

NOAA2 is in the hurricane and making its way to the eye

Movement is 280/13Kt at the last update about 30 minutes ago. So just slightly north of due west.

AF309's last dropsonde into Irma was at 16.9 N 58.9 W
let's see where NOAA2 drops its first dropsonde marking the center of the eye

All you're doing by sharing that stuff is giving those idiots the attention they crave.

Pretty sure that's just a wobble.
It's not supposed to move northward for 5 more days

Feel bad for those islanders that are about to get pounded.

Irma still tracking due west and gaining speed. Only 130 miles from the islands. She better turn NW soon or its gonna be a much more southern track than anticipated
Why are you wish casting this thing to the Florida panhandle?
