Joke’s on them, that bread will be stale by the time the storm hits

Freeze the bread ahead of time. When power goes out the shelf life is extended.

The houses built like that should be fine huh? Poured concrete with barred windows

Third world builders and materials. I wouldn't want to test it.

Yeah, seriously.

Although, I have a gas range, and a charcoal pit, plus a propane grill, so no shortage of ways to cook (or just heat up) food if I don't have power.

So you trust the models when they predict it moves west over Cuba in 3 days, but not when they say it then moves north?

It's like none of these people have ever been through a real hurricane

People in Louisiana are freaking out over Irma. Wonder what they will do when Jose decides to show a similar path.

This blows. I really don't want to have to leave my place. Go stay in some shitty hotel in Lakeland for a week, that sounds awesome.

That's the mindset a lot of people have before they are killed or calling for a rescue because they fricked up and made the wrong decision.

@RyanMaue Eye continues to warm now +20°C ... if convection flares or clouds cool (more pink) then Hurricane #Irma should reach 200 mph.

Not necessarily. It'll be really bad no doubt but unless it goes to the central gulf coast where the shelf is shallow, the surge will "only" be about 10-15 feet. Not a 25-35 ft surge.

Its a shelf along the west coast of Florida

200mph??

Tell me texag7... In your expert opinion is that strong enough to blow a 34 pt lead?

Did Florida even have slaves? Why would a hurricane want to hit Florida?

in the long term models are meant to be looked at for general trends not accuracy. if your looking for an accurate long term projection as to what this storm will do no model or meteorologist worth their salt is going to give that to you. you can get projections all day for 5+ days but the fact of the matter is those projections arent much more than guesses. there was a graph we were shown in one of my atmos classes (i think it was synoptic scale meteorolgy but im not sure) that showed what the accuracy of models tend to be for x days out and the decrease was staggeringly exponential the further out you got. theyre very accurate for 3ish days out but after that it becomes more of a crap shoot.

If no PB&Js, they'll just have to resort to BJs.

Fidel once loved a woman named Irma. This is a Cuban storm.
