Man I remember seeing that bad weather event months back that spawned several tornadoes in Louisiana. I was watching that station and Orr would go on 30 minutes taking about how a tornado could spawn when in the background she had one on radar already and wouldn't talk about the damn destination of it...

People would probably be dead by the time they found out the path it was going in. She can be kinda annoying I agree.

Because pressure is going to find the path of least resistance. The center is lower pressure than the arms of the storm. As the winds turn, they're constantly trying to find the lower pressure because the winds are higher pressure. The lower the pressure is in the center, the more intense the pressure outside the center is going to try to find that lower pressure. And the more this happens, the higher the wind.

That's my non-professional attempt at explaining it.

He could also come out and say there's a slight chance it destroys NOLA and he wouldn't be lying.

What is the interval for official updates from the hurricane center?

1, 4, 7, 10 AM & PM Central Time currently

4 & 10 are constant full advisories (new projected path and all)

1 & 7 are intermediates... and once it starts really getting close they'll move intermediate advisories to 12, 2, 6, & 8 AM & PM

I'd be more concerned with the next run of the Euro (ECMWF) which should start running in about 15 minutes, then be available in about 45 minutes.

The people in this thread get mad when you don't treat the 7 day models like gods that are incapable of being wrong.

That was my line of thinking as well... SEEMS LIKE some people just have an axe to grind

They'd be the same ones fussing that BB didn't ever mention the possibility of a direct hit close to Nola IF it did go down that way

Geaux, you're a smart man. Bob's a smart man. That post was designed for maximum share potential, and he's getting exactly what he wanted. Nearly 2k shares in the last hour. Look at the comments - people are freaking the hell out.

It was calculated, yet irresponsible.

What kind of damage will Orlando be looking at from this thing? Would they potentially evacuate that area?

Charley beat up WDW pretty good. Not much structural damage to the parks or resort properties, but it beat the shite out of the trees and vegetation. I would imagine if Irma is as strong as she is forecast to be by the time she gets there, there could be some problems.

I would go with the professionals, they were spot on with Harvey, predicting it would stall and reenter gulf.

Hell, they predicted exactly what happened last year with that no name system that poured over Baton Rouge area.

Polk and Osceola counties got the hell tore out of them. Nearly every roof sustained major damage. In Orlando, trees caused much of the damage. Winter Park really took a hit due to trees come no down.

Bob isn't one to over hype.. in fact he's usually the one under hyping things.. he's the one that says we have nothing to worry about. For him to talk like that carries weight. He's saying you can't trust these models outside of 3-5 days.

He has nothing to gain from shares. He's retired. He does still have access to the WVUE weather center, as well as all of the data he did when he was on TV full time.

I'm assuming you're from Houston and have never lived in New Orleans, so you don't understand how shortsighted your attacks on Bob Breck are.

And you're right, I am a smart man, and he is a smart man, and many of us are smart men, but we're not psychics, and neither are these models. Hurricanes aren't completely predictable, when the NHC has this storm making a north turn within their 3 day range, I'll believe it 100% cause at the end of the day, they're the professionals.

We left Disney a day ahead of Charley and friends of ours that were in the middle of their stay said they were open for business in a day or two? I could be off on that but I am sure they are better prepared to fix Disney property than anyone else on the planet is. You can also bet they are coming up with models to book as many rooms and sell as many tickets as possible as well. I remember during Charley they were still booking and selling uo to the the day we were leaving and, at the time, only offering partial or no refunds but giving more perks.

I didn't grow up as a Bob Breck fan, so I can safely say, he's talking out his arse here.

I wouldn't say he or anyone else isn't talking out of their arse. This far out nearly anything could happen. I think the hate for Bob Breck came from his insecurities when it came to other forecasters. Perticularly Nash Roberts. Bob would always make a point of how he was right and others were wrong. Then if he got wrong he would make excuses. It never bothered me I tended to watch them all and form my own opinion.
